I have attached my first completed project with TS and those of you having followed my development realize that it has take 4 months to create. As an Architect, my vision is large on any task that I undertake. FYI, if I were to charge my professional service rate over four months, (even adjusting for a learning curve) I'd charge 16K. As it is, I negotiated the deal to provide the service (and learn the program) for half that, BUT I still retained the copyrights.

From what I've seen in this these forums, many are working only in the hope of realizing small fees in return. Many are hoping to turn a hobby into a fruitful moneymaker, while others are likely employed doing just that. Though I am a licensed professional in an allied field, I am HERE TO TELL YOU that good fees are possible. It is entirely a matter of selling your ideas (and therfore your worth to the potential client) for what value of service YOU present.

Let's estimate. 10 hours a week X 4 weeks X 4 months = 160 hours. I worked on this project for more hours per day than that, but it's a good average. I bill out my design time at $100/hour = 16K. YOU CAN DO THE SAME, maybe not at first, but everyone has to start someplace. 20 years ago, my billing rate was half that, and I returned to this rate given the project, economy, and opportunity.

You are nothing less than dedicated and focused! Not many are like that today.
I looked at your beautiful horse project and thought the horse modeling was very good.
Here are my random thoughts.
Your texturing and modeling of the horse was very good. I would seriously consider post editing
and add some sparkle to the eyes. Maybe because I looked at a compressed image but the eyes
do not stand out. On a living creature that is where you show "Life"
The yellow frame could use a texture and I would consider making each wood rail wider (thicker).
(I think that would frame and add dominance to the horse also).
I hope you decide to share other projects with us because your talents are awesome...(Dude! )

The project was actually very well done!

It seem interesting but the video is too small to have a good idea of the quality of your work. Can you post an image of the horse?
About money, for an animation for advertising on tv, my rate is 1000/1500 euros (+ tax) for 10/15 seconds (about 2/3 days of work). Compared to a video production company it is not expensive because I have less costs. Work alone can be a good deal but it is not easy. the price depends more on the client that the work done.
For those who want to go: to work hard and do not hurry to make money. be patient and take risks. Most important is to love what you do.

I appreciate you professionals telling about your prices. I've been curious about that.

Dreamcatcher: The horse is for a website right? Where is that site?

Marcel: You have posted images of some of your perfume bottles. Is there a place online where I could see one of your TV advertisements?

My thanks to the three of you for your positive responses and constructive criticisms. For my first foray into organic modeling, all of it is greatly appreciated.

To Steinie: I take all criticism constructively; you needn't think otherwise, but I appreciate your consideration of that point. Your appreciation of my dedication was incisive; I am nothing if not driven by excelling in what I do. With regard to the horse model, it helped to have some of our own right out the front door, and plenty of horse books in our library! I like the idea of adding life to the eyes and need to know more about doing just that. Kindly suggest a manner in which to achieve the desired effect. I'll consider your ideas about the surround; the poles are actually used on jumps, generally plastic, and the client wants them Gold. Do you have another recommendation?

To Marcel: I have attached a .jpeg of the logo. I didn't expect that the .wmp file would be so visually small. The .avi file is full screen but of course a much larger file size. I'd post it, but I don't know whether the forum server would handle the size, even when zipped.

To Finis: The website has yet to be created by either myself or my wife. FYI the entirety of our project is to advertise and market the client's 6-year old stallion as he is to compete in Gran Prix jumping this spring. Both my wife and I have a vested interest in this endeavor and are bringing our creative skills to bear (as well as our national networks and experience). We hope to gather sponsors from products that we use for the horses (think of all the STP stickers and the like on a race car), AND approach additional prospects, specifically large ones like universities with programs that involve equine studies. I spent 16 years on the national Board of Directors for the preminent architectural Fraternity in the US serving in various positions as an Officer, including that of Treasurer, generating 30K in a 4-day period to raise money...

thank for the image. Good work even if i find the legs too soft and too symetrical. Anatomy have several problem but I think it is stylish. Sometimes a good criticism is more useful than a compliment.
You can post a zip less 5 megas in the forum.
