Started an ant yesterday evening hopefully this WIP will help me finish it before I loose interest.

It looks good and doesn't need much to be finished - you only needs to add legs and antennas an the mouth. :)

Added antennas and the front legs and a lot of geometry to the head. Yes it is a simple model but I will be adding a good bit of detail. For now will just finish the back legs and the rough draft will be done. Then will go back over and add the mandibles and the reset of the detailed segments to the antenna’s. Then the detail to the legs. And then one final pass to add a few hairs. Then I will UV map and texture it. And then rig it with bones and maybe set up a short walk cycle if I have time. Then import into Vue and paint some hair on as a eco system. Then render it out. Maybe will just do a still or this will be a long wip. I don’t want to be on this for a month. ;)

Thanks for the complements Rayman but I am slow compared to many including you. Almost a complete rough in of the ant. Will add the mandibles and fix the antenna’s and the leg details and post an update. Think then I will move on to texturing.

Sorry I missed your question Erpax I have been having problems logging in and staying logged in when I post. Its not a big deal but sometimes I get kicked out and then just don’t go back until a bit later.

I am using silo for this one because I need to get back into that program to finish another model I started plus it has a good SDS system.

Thanks Steinie and yes it is a box model with 2 layers of SDS oops what you see is 3 layers but I will finalize it with 2 because it is overkill. It will be saved as OBJ and it seems to me this format smooth’s surfaces a tiny bit anyway. I know that when I import into something like Carrara, poser or Daz studio I can adjust the level of smoothing a small amount.

I didn't know that ants had hair. Of course, they are so small so it hard to see. You learn new things everyday. :bananaclaus:
