how to extract edge loops from existing model
Is there a way to extract / convert an edge loop into a stand-alone curve / polyline.
I did not see anything in the manual and I was not able to find an icon for it.

Re: how to extract edge loops from existing model
This is one way to do it if I understand your question
correctly.
Instructions are for the workSpace side:
1) Add "Edge Loop" to your object
2) Select "Invert Selection"
3) Select "Delete Selected Elements"
correctly.

For Modeler there is also a plugin called EdgetoPath available. The first plugin in the list

Re: how to extract edge loops from existing model
Thought about deleting the part of the geometry except the wanted loop.
But than it seemed to be too tedious to select all the geometry I didn't want ... well,
live can be so easy sometimes, just invert the selection ... guess that gray mass, which
is responsible to do the thinking, was in standby mode
I've downloaded the recommended script, haven't tried it yet.
Thanks a lot

so i just edge loop a fillin hole. make it a face the extrude than delte that face.
AutoDesk Maya you can extrude any thing even a vertex.

well you get what you pay for.
soo pay a couple 1000s for a 3d software. to do almost anything in it.
but i get maya for free
my school buys it ever time a new one comes out. school discount cut the price down alot.
since i have a mac. my teacher gives me free software.

Re: how to extract edge loops from existing model
You can extrude a vertex in Hexagon as well.
For extracting an edge loop in TrueSpace you could try selecting your edge loop and then press Control C and then Control V on your key board and then move it away with the 3d widget then sweep or extrude the line. If you have a Mac you would use the equivalent keys. Hope it works!

Re: how to extract edge loops from existing model
I think that could never be, Caligari stopped the development and I'm not sure if you can create a plugin that makes it compatible (Plugins aren't that powerful).weedhunter wrote:tS is not on Mac compatiable...... yet.

Re: how to extract edge loops from existing model
you dont create a pluging you have to reprogram it to work with mac.
the sdk that is for 7.6.1 i can use to make it work with mac. but first i have to finish learning C after c i get into Objective-C and learn Cocoa so than it will be easyer to make it work with mac.

Re: how to extract edge loops from existing model
To reprogram you need to have the program itself in the SDK Caligari didn't release all the program so you can't change totally the program and because of that this has no future, if we could upgrade it for new platforms tS would live much more.

Re: how to extract edge loops from existing model
I'm not saying that is illegal but that is impossible, just if you robber it from some microsoft computer that has the codes and not the sdk... I'm not sure, so if you can would be really cool!

Re: how to extract edge loops from existing model
i have connections to do anyhing i want with software.
but here chekc out this.
http://www.linux.org/apps/AppId_4305.html
it look like some one already had a try to get to change up tS. or aleast tried to duplicate it to work with linux.
did ya Mac OS is a Unix so this software will work on it. i going to see if i can contact the develpoers for the mg^2 modeling software source code so i can take a look of how they made this software.

In this case, be careful this isn't the same as download torrents and hacking.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
ill have to study the code that they have and learn what there "Functions" do and how they were writen.what does what. figure out the if statment and program loops. lot of work to figure out someone else code.
oh ya this is perfectly legal they are under the GPL lincense and they have a readme that say "you may use any of this code for any other program you are working oN" something like that.
taht is good news
