No no, I am not leaving
I wrote "passing the flame" in the subject field because my daughter (16) is now entering graphic art. She is not into 3D (sorry trueSpace) but all into 2D flat Photoshop drawing, and she does it well ! She has developed her own cartoon style and already earned some money with her art. Surprisingly, she found a market in drawing Facebook/MSN/Skype avatars for her friends from the college. So I helped her in the making of a website to start building the network she will need to start working in a professional way.

I guess I am not the only one here having children contaminated with the creative art virus.
Do you have boys and girls learning 2D or 3D tools ? What programs do you recommend ? What training, courses, schools, paths for their future ?

A Cintiq 22 HD to start. Not bad ! I think Illustrator is very important for a 2d professionnal. It is the standard for printing on the studios.

Her Website looks very good and I think the English is just fine. Besides, most Americans are charmed by the way the French speak and write English. Not sure how those British view it.

At the moment she is learning animation. TVPaint versus Toon Boom is a big dilemna. TVPaint is a pure bitmap program with a cool interface I appreciate since Amiga days. I can help her on this tool because I have been using Aura in the past (an older version of TVPaint). On the other hand, Toon Boom is a vector-based animation program. I think it is important to learn vector drawing ; like Marcel said, Illustrator is a classical. But the interface and tools are a bit harder to get into.
