Please explain the truespace Coordinate system
Can some explain the World/Object/Tangent Coordinate system. Do they work in the Model side only.

Re: Please explain the truespace Coordinate system
world: is for whole scene
X(left/right),Y(forth/back), are on ground and Z (controlled by right mouse) is up/down
then every object has its own axis that can change. You can display it by clicking on axis icon button, then you can rotate it, center in object etc. So the orientation depends on how the object is rotated or how you set the rotation of the object axis
screen coordinates are relative to your current view. So on your screen is X left right not in space but in 2d on screen. Y is up/down and Z is from/to a camera or view
You can switch the coordinate system as you wish. Sometimes its better to move the object by its own axis, sometimes its better to use world coords., for moving the object simply up for example.

Does it affect the Rotation of the object.

Hi... Shell1850...
None of them do...
All three affect the position of the whole
scene in the view...
This does not affect the placement or
position of any object or objects..

Re: Please explain the truespace Coordinate system
you can have object axis in special position, like having the Z in some joint (or whatever) that is diagonal, not horizontal not vertical. Then when you rotate the object using the object coords (thus the object axis) by right mouse you will rotate the object diagonally.Shell1850 wrote:Does it affect the Rotation of the object.

Re: Please explain the truespace Coordinate system
Yes, there will be different effects depending on which coordinate system you are using.Shell1850 wrote:Does it affect the Rotation of the object.
The easiest way to get a handle on it is to set up a simple scene with a cube that's not located at World center (0,0,0)
Use the default hotkeys: Q (object) W (World) and E (Screen) in conjunction with eye move/rotate and Object move/rotate to get a feel for how they differ. Toggle on/off the XYZ axis icons (default hotkeys A=X S=Y D=Z) to restrain movement/rotation as you do this.
The location of the object's axis ( click ' Axes' to make the axis visible, click again to hide it; while visible, the axis can be manipulated with the Object Move/Rotate/Scale tools) will also affect rotation. Note that the axis can be located inside or outside of an object.

Thank You. I will experiment with it.
