Sometimes I create new layouts and buttons and series of plugins to aid with work. But when I try to install the same system to another computer, I have to go through each plugin and button and install everything all over again.

But then I found that my current setup is saved in a file, and I just need to copy over it, or rewrite it, change the library paths if they change (in the LE editor) and viola! All buttons, layouts and setups, updates, etc are preserved.

The file is located in your TS installation root folder. Copy this file to your new system setup, and it loads your frozen and current state of TS you have worked on.

Here is a sample of my dual monitor setup on my home computer that I managed to copy from my work computer.

In the example I have many of clintons plugins among others I found. I also have a new series of buttons to each of those plugins with LMB open panel and RMB close panel. The default scene will be missing, as you won't have my libraries, but hopefully the setup will load clean.

Monitor 1 is on the Right. It contains the LE editor, libraries, panel/setting pane.
Monitor 2 is on the Left. It contains most of the buttons and a 3D view/modelside, animation editor pane

They are still crude scripts to get the floating panels (like they won't create a new floating panel if you haven't closed it with the RMB), but maybe later I'll work on a cooler setup with plugins, new features, if not a whole TS update and cleaner popup panels to aid with the UI.



I recommend backing up this file after installing the program and installing TS unofficial updates, setting plugins, creating your personal default.
When you need to reinstall the program or install it to other systems, this will ease the installation process to get to the point of your personal use.


1. Install TS7.6,
2.Install Unofficial Updates.
3. Copy your default.ctx
4. Enjoy your preset default TS system without having to install buttons/scripts/plugins/libraries/layouts separately!

You can also save a ctx file from the file menu. When you load it back in the library tab and the file menu at the top will be messed up. Exit truespace and go back in fixes the libraries and right click > reset fixes the file menu.

Oh crap, realized most of the plugins in my sample WON'T load a popup panel, as it calls it from a library. I'll upload those too.
