Re: "Team DOODLESACKS" Challenge WIP
Nice start!
Interesting character you have created. Not sure if the two holes are necessary for each plate and having the same size also.
BUT who am I, let your partner decide.
Still it is an interesting start!

Ok, here we go.
For now, I share that we will have two robots. I'm gonna get a bit of work done this weekend.
After a bit of sketching, I used Blender's Grease Pencil to come up with this. Then I add the single axis primitives and we're ready to go. I start from one sided view (usually the right side). This time I will create on the fly so lets see what this turns into.

Re: "Team DOODLESACKS" Challenge WIP
Have you tried posing him inside zbrush? The distortions that appear will be centralized on the edge and you then can finesse those verts back where you want him. When one gets to 200k+ verts they become hard to see much less manipulate individually.
Ralph, it's always better to place models in their final pose at the start of the process when the poly count is low. When I first started, loved that there was no poly limit. Until I had to do something with that model. Then I realized, 'just cuz you can doesn't always mean you should'. So now for posed models the concept is finalized before I deal with details.

Re: "Team DOODLESACKS" Challenge WIP
I did pose him with a low poly mesh ,he is still posable now ,i deleted the main base mesh now he has just a extreem low poly
mesh inside ,all panels are seperate poly groups to do with what i like or need.
I thought we had agreed that the pose was ok ?

No no, I meant nothing abt Your pose. Just sharing with all a lesson I learned the hard way.
Do you have a low poly model of this? I'm still putting mine together.
Here's an update. I extrude a few verts here and there to define outlines, select squared off verts, and then hit F to create faces in edit mode. Blocking in faces.

Re: "Team DOODLESACKS" Challenge WIP
Well what I was thinking that we need to flesh out the background so let's share what we come up with.
I'll Polypaint as a final and see what that comes out as. That way I forget about textures and just play painter.
As for low poly, I am geared always towards animation, so I always think in terms of low poly and air tight mesh.
Here's an update.
With those spikes you ain't gettin' anywhere near me boy
And... it would be cool that after we win the challenge,
our bots head down there to Stratos's air space whatever...
and show them who really controls the skies... and the ground.
Um, that's after we fix our lil differences.
(for the uninitiated, all Ima sayin' is... the final pic will help make everything make sense. I just figure that we add a lll' fun in the dialogue. And Steinie started anyway)

lol... Ahh the fleetness of the aether. Had just come on to see what the latest was before I went into Blender Finis.
Wasted a bunch of time making his joints too complex. Will just go with this. Finalizing.
What ya think Ralph?
Sent you reply abt the warehouse.

Re: "Team DOODLESACKS" Challenge WIP
Hey guys. Yeah, like I told ya Ralph, I have limited time on the puter.
So... here's what happens when one tries to throw too many ideas into one robot. Not the best idea, but this is the final shape I guess. Have parented the pieces for now to help with posing and still need to work on details, but a good start to throw into the scene to work out size and pose.
So, pugman, let's talk textures. Will email ya.

Here's the pose I'm going for. I see issues already but thought I'd share. Will take him into zbrush and see what I can come up with in there.

Sent ya an email Ralph.
Well, what ya think boys? Not bad huh? All the cool texture work is pugman's. Pretty darn good I'd say.
Great work Ralph.
So.... The title is (pending approval)... "When Teamwork goes wrong"

PS: After I'm done kickin' your butt, how about we go over and mess that pretty nest Team Stratos cooked up? Whatta ya say???
he he heh hehe...
PSS: Dudes... Would be real cool animating a scenario like this. I'd be 'mooore than happy' (ahh. RIP George Carlin) to devote time on that.
Like Stratos's structure, with our bots and the one Steinie and Pugman worked on. Etc.
Just sayin'

Looking awesome!
The characters and textures are wonderful.
7zip can give you quite a bunch of compression formats and control. It's 7z format is good, and tars are also good. You can try the bit depth to shave of a few more megs.
Wetransfer is an easy way to transfer large files by email temporarily.

Thanks Draise.
Hey Ralph; put up the wireframe in the other thread, and we're done. Let's go have a beer.
