3DS GMAX XSI import rollout by Tsvetan.

Post by BNG »

The XSI format is an older version but maybe someone can use it for some limited application. It was created by another user named Tsvetan. Here's a link to the maxscript> http://gamespacelite.freeforums.org/vie ... f=46&t=722" FYI: he's also released an XSI exporter script as well.

Unfortunately no. It supposedly can import XSI version 1x models into GMAX/3DS MAX modeling software. It's a very old now obsolete model format for a game called Battlezone 2 Combat Commander. The current XSI format is radically different from the old 1x version. Tsvetan, is also a BZII model maker and is kindly offering to make these plugins for other BZII modders as most current BZII tools can't handle anything later then XSI version 2 I think? As far as I know the plugin is still a work in progress. Happy New Year to all btw. Leroy. :bananacool2:

FYI: the XSI importer itself can import a version 1x XSI model complete with animation into both G/max. Tsvetan, is still tweaking the maxscript, but Battlezone II model makers should find importing XSI models very useful as all the original game models were created with a now obsolete Softimage format. Up until this importer even Max user were unable to import older XSI models into the software. I really was surprised that an importer could even be created for Max version 4 and up. Leroy.
