How do you guys feel about whether I should use either TS or Blender for my project (model machine thingy using real life physics characteristics and scenarios and getting data feed)?
The ability of TS to interact in real time is a prime reason for my interest in TS. Also TS seems to have a very well developed physics simulation capability compared to Blender. A lot of Blender type use of physics seems related to Toy World type of projects. Seems hard to get detail on doing real world stuff?
I think TS may be easier to do models with? I recall Blender having a reputation in regards to its learning curve, particularly with the menus. The menus seem easier in TS as well I think... haven't touched Blender for a while.

Blender 2.5 alpha 2 is out. May be worth investigating. They have improved the interface.
Though, I think truespace still has a better physics engine.
For models, you can always import OBJ format, using the Model side, and switch
to the Workspace side. The model should import fine. I also wrote an OBJ importer/exporter
for the Workspace side. But modelling in truespace is good too.
I'd suggest, keeping my options open. Try using blender for creating models, and importing
them into truespace. And, making models in truespace as well.

Wasn't there a plug in for machines? Gears, wheels, tracks, etc.? Don't know if it used physics.
If you are new to TS I'd say use something else. Although I love TS, given its short future put your learning effort elsewhere.
If you already have and know TS then I'd recommend using it together with other programs. Use each one for what it is good at. Those who have used physics in other programs might tell which is good for what.
Blender 2.5 is supposed to have a better interface.
If TS's physics is good compared to other programs then I'm disappointed with physics in the 3D world. I've done cool things with it (Splododyne Explodiatory Explodolator, I just like typing that, hmm gotta repost in this forum) and so have others. But I'm not really satisfied with it either.
Remember that this forum is not only for TS.

Re: do project in TS or Blender
My suggestion would be to consider TS if you plan on staying a hobbyist or having a small studio. TS is a fine tool with a lot of potential given its scripting capability.
If you want to start something that could grow in commercial success I suggest you make another tool your main focus. Simply put, there are not enough TS users to staff a large commercial project. If you are thinking of anything that needs more than 3 people I suggest you use Blender. The chances that you will be able to hire people to help are far better.
