Kabuki, our kitty

Post by froo »

Our kitty Kabuki is a Maine Coon. She is about 15 1/2 years old.
We did not realize she was going slowly blind; now she is pretty much
completely blind. That's the long and short of it. She is pretty depressed
right now, but we need to encourage her, spend more time playing with her,
etc. She's still got a lot of life in her. We learned that eyesight is not as
important to cats as hearing, smell, and feel. So that helps.

Kabuki has been through EVERYTHING with us. All of our trials, tribulations,
good times, and bad. She's always been there for us, and we will
continue to do the same for her. We need to change her diet since she
has kidney problems. Not an easy task for any of us, but we'll get there.
She's gone with us, from Texas, to New Hampshire, to Virginia, to Colorado.
She's a traveling doll. :) I just hope we can do a good job of helping her
adapt to this.

Best wishes to Kabuki. She is with the right people to care for her.

Thanks Finis.
I think she will adapt; chances are, it'll be harder for us to adapt to it.
I've been taking her outside in the sunlight. She seems to see some,
during the day.

Thanks Finis and bitkar.
We named her Kabuki because she looks like she has very thick black eyeliner around her eyes,
like the actors in the traditional Japanese Noh and Kabuki styles of theater.

She seems to be doing better, which is a relief. But, we're still going to report the veterinarian.
Idiot. He prescribed a very strong antibiotic, when he could have prescribed something much milder,
without the risk of blindness. We did not know this at the time.
