Cool.
I wonder then if I could install XP on a new PC (once I acquire the hardware and build it), then upgrade to 8, bypassing 7.
What about other 3d applications, such as blender, modo, etc.? Do they work on 8? Anyone tested them?

I'm curious Pugman, does trueSpace 7.61 beta 8 LE work without applying the LE hot fix?

Hm I wonder if I can do this with the new system I build:

1. Install the 'beta' version of Windows 8
2. When Windows 8 goes 'on sale' to retailers and online, call Microsoft and request to upgrade for $50 since I have Windows XP
3. Install the 'gold' version of Windows 8

Would that work, or do I need to have Windows XP installed first, before running steps 1-3?

Dunno, call and find out.

But they said it was an upgrade, so I would think you would have to have a current licensed copy of WinXP.

Ok thanks James.
Well, I have 2 genuine copies of XP; just not on 'working' computers anymore!

When you upgrade form XP to windows 7 you have to reinstall all of yours programs. Upgrade from Vista was easy.

Wow. 40 dollars.
