I agree Marcel. It's important to have real friends with who you can be truly yourself with and discuss both good and bad things openminded.
If I should work with CG, as my own boss, I would like to do it in a office with other people (also own bosses) in a openminded enviroment. To be with other humans are important and are a deeply need for most of the peoples on earth. To joke, laugh and solving problems.
This community is for now my office where I can have this discussion about what I'm working with. I feel that everybody in this community are discussing both good and bad things openminded.
Thats good!

Re: What do you do?
Seems I stumbled on this thread after it wandered a little, but for what it's worth, I'm a special makeup fx artist/lab supervisor full time at MastersFX, Vancouver Canada location. I don't really do 3D as anything but a hobby, but it has occasionally come in handy when previsualizing stuff (I recently used it to map out a gag for Fringe to help myself and my co-workers better interpret the production art). I also write and have occasionally acted onscreen for a couple shows, namely Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, Sanctuary and Fringe, always in heavy prosthetics so as not to scare away the audience (ha ha). Far and few between, the acting gigs, but fun when they happen.

Re: What do you do?
I work as a clinical research coordinator/manager in oncology, mostly chemotherapy-based studies, but we do have some studies working with radiation therapy and surgical oncology. I used TS version 3 something (I think) years ago as a hobby, never really got anywhere with it, mostly played around with textures and surfaces etc, never got very good with actual modelling. Became interested again recently and lo and behold TS is now a free download! I'm hoping to learn it much better this time, and plan to use TS to model the cellular and molecular biology behind cancerous processes, for patient education purposes. I've already started working on modelling membranes, going slow but steady!

It is interesting to see how we are different.
This thread and the other (where are you from) are a good idea. Now we are less virtual. Thank Leon.

Re: What do you do?
Hi all - just noticed this thread. I have other posts that tell some of my background but will add more here. I am a licensed Architect in multiple states, living in a very rural setting about as far away as 'Chicagoland' suburbs extends. My wife and I are about 15 minutes from the Wisconsin border and a couple of hours from downtown Chicago, Illinois. I have been in practice for 21 years now, and am 47. I started working for myself not long after I gained my first license to practice and have never looked back. We moved this far out so that we could keep horses on site and have three 'geldings' - two Quarter Horses and a Friesian. We currently have three 'guests' - a Stallion and two mares, one of which is pregnant and due in April of 2010.
I literally 'stumbled' upon Truespace because I had been retained to develop a new logo for our 'guest's' Owner and envisioned a 3D organic image that was animated to be the centerpeice of his new Website Homepage and my architectural 3D programs did not provide the organic requirement. Due to the US economic climate, architectural work is somewhat scarce so I am looking to add another skillset with 3D graphic art and animation. I have been compiling my own DVD movies for the last ten years, so Truespace seemed to be a great addition, as it will produce files I can import into that program.
I am also an avid gamer - particularly 'Dungeons & Dragons' and have been since its inception in the late 1970's. I have written multiple adventures (with an eye towards selling them), the largest of which was a twelve story castle which I modeled when I was putting a new program through it's trial period, about fifteen years ago. The hang-up I had was that the structure was dynamic rather than static - it was designed to move, like a clockwork composition. The problem then was that no real animation program was to be discovered that would enable me to realize this and subsequently complete the vision. I'll have to revisit this now that I've found Ts.

Re: What do you do?
A D&D adventure with a castle designed by a real architect? That's got to be good!
The self employed people in these posts seem to be the happiest and are often doing well monetarily. Not surprising since they have the most control over their own lives. So they can have more free time, that would be my choice, or work hard and earn a lot.

Your welcome Marcel.
Yep those thread aims to make the members more like persons and not programs that help and entertain us
Ow here is a huge variety of persons, how could I imagine.
Rayman, I agree with you. Skype and new techs that close people is really cool but I can't use it yet for two reason. First is that my english is terrible and second is that I'll wait to grow up more to then expose myself that level.

Re: What do you do?
The castle is cool Marcel, considering that it was done 10 years ago!
I know that it's a bit off topic... but here is a moment of reflection:

Re: What do you do?
I hope you will find a way out of the castle. it is useless to try to open the portcullis. it is blocked. another detail: you can see 674 views but it was a little part of this virtual world.
ps: i can't see the flash in your post.
