I Would like to Know What Brings to mind this title:
Bleak Orbital Terminal
Assuming you do not know this movie, what image would come to mind when reading the title? (Especially for those whose native language is English). For french, it's sound good. Comments from other countries appreciated (specify your native language).

Hi marcel, when i read the title the first part of your movie comes to mind its perfect.
the title explains every thing .

Very catchy name, marcel... it makes you curious to know more, pulls you in with questions just reading the title, like why is it bleak? and its exciting because orbital implies space and scifi... then the questions about what is this terminal and why is it so important that it is part of the title... very good...

well, originally, I thought the word, 'Terminal' meant, a 'space station'. But now, it sounds like, 'The End'.

So, with the original meaning in mind,
it made me think, of a depressing existence in an orbital station.

With the second meaning of the word 'Terminal',
it makes me think that, there is a very small chance of success to solve a problem, but
since it is such a small chance of success, the future looks Bleak. Beings exist on an Orbital
station, to solve the problem on the planet surface. Most, if not all, life on the planet surface has been
destroyed. If the problem is not solved, the existence of all life on the planet, including those entities
on the Orbital station, will be Terminated.

I developed this title from a long discussion on the forum Caligari. Is a pity that many people who helped me are gone. The important thing was that it makes BOT (no difficult to understand why).
Bleak: for the atmosphere of the film.
Orbital: this word is very important for the end of the film (a big surprise).
Terminal: the transformation of buildings, also visible at the end of the film.
I was not sure of the result but your comments seem to confirm that my choice was good.
The film will have many others scenes very bright and optimistic, totally different from what exists. I did the generic and changes in many scenes. there will be lots of animals too. I look for music. I have not tried to convey a message. The most important is that everyone sees his own. Why is there no logic in a surreal creation.
At the end of the movie I would put a list of people who helped me and encouraged on this long project. I'd like to finish this before the end of the year. which will be approximately two years of work. patience is the best tools.

I always interpreted the "Bleak" part of the title as absence of humans. With all the robots, it is a desert in which no humans can or would want to exist. Some compare robot worlds to insect colonies. That is, efficient interface with a collective methodology of tasking.

The words used together, "Bleak Orbital Terminal" brings several things to mind. In addition to what I descibed above, one gets the awareness that outerspace is involved. The "Terminal" portion of the title indicates to me a station, perhaps one of many in which control has been made transitional to some overthrow of humankind.

It's an interesting perspective of developing a world in which efficiency and sameness is held above all other attributes beyond what humans would expect.

I like the title.

Personally, I like the title as it certainly grabs my attention.

One thought does occur to me though and that is that the term bleak is not used very often. I think that is one reason the title will get a lot of attention.

Marcel, to be honest, with your craft and vision you could call the film anything you want.

Yes you are right. It is the same thing in french. what i say was wrong (it is my bad english). The terminal will be the news building on the floating rock. At the end they will together on the new crust, in the space, forming the terminal. This terminal will be in the center of a big rock with a new world all around. Since avatar, some details have changed in my project. Is a true inspiration source. not sure to finish this year!

@V3rd3: maybe it is a good thing if "bleak" is not often used. It gives more originality.

Also it would be interesting to know what kind of music you would like to see for the movie...

Music is a very important part of a movie. I suggest to take your time and listen to a variety of styles but my feeling is that it should be partly dark and mysterious and partly heroic, inspirational, smooth. Something like that.

Yes different styles is a good idea. The most difficult is to find something enought interesting and without copyright. I have several CD for that but i don't find what i search. I need to search again. Some thing like pink floyd, Dire strait, tangerine dream or some classic as 7th symphonie of beethoven, etc... i can also mix different music to create something different, why not?

Try Echoes from pink floyd, or somethin like The Fountain of Salmacis from Genesis (The end principaly).

Marcel, ever heard of Y.M.O. , Japanese synthesizer music from the same era as Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, etc.

I think you Marsel has heard of these bands. I was a fan and still are about Jean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, etc. In the years beetween 1970 to 1980 these were my favorite bands and I still enjoy them. I will search more about Y.M.O. Thanks for your tip and nostalgic trip.

I have to admit that I find it difficult to link BOT to a particular style of music given the depth of the sound effects you are using. I see a lot of collisions and movement in BOT that orchestral music could be matched to. The odd part being when I look at all of the BOT pieces together there is nothing orchestral about it ... BOT comes across as a modernist piece so I would look more to synthesized or heavily mixed music.....

Emerson, Lake and Palmer come to mind, as well as early Genesis. Jean Michel Jarre early work, some pieces on Equinoxe would work well also.

How could I forget Jean Michel Jarre? I love his musics, and Equinoxe it's just the best... try to see which part of Equinoxe you like the most...

Equinoxe is one of the first CD audio i had. Also i had the first CD audio player on the market created by philips and sony (about 28 years ago). i designed for long hours listening to this music. was one of my favorite. Pink Floyd was the first. A time when youth was carefree, rebellious and certainly freer than today even if they had nothing. Everything was to be discovered. blass or be dissatisfied was not a common thing. I am always surprised when people get tired of all so quickly and how they are concerned about theirs appearance and not what they have in mind. i find it very sad. The music of this era will always be an inspiration to me because it is full of memories.

Equinoxe and not to forget Oxygene. Both fantastic synthesizer music that brings back wonderful memories. Back in the seventies one of my friends always played it in the evening when his pirate radio station was on air. Looking back, it is as if those days (as a 16/17 year old kid) were more satisfying and easier than today, or am I getting old and sentimental now?
Anyway, I love this music since those days. Like Marcel, I like to listen to this music when I am at work on the PC.
