U3DACompetitio March 2013 WIP - Lirrasect

Post by Draise »

So here is my WIP for the competition. I wanted to compete with the last one, but I didn't have any time.

So now I have time, so going to work on this one! But again, as quickly as possible as I am not the free-est of men!

So I have some sketches sorted, not the best.. I have also read up on some tips for creature/character design, so I'm trying to implement it. I'm not much of a anatomist, but i know a little. I got lot of reference images first, and tried to incorporate them all, some insect, some rat, some lizard.

And now, following some edge loops, I'm making a rough low poly model, which I will then sculpt details onto later, then probably try to quickly create a cool shader in TS and rig him quickly for a small animation as fast as possible. Maybe put him into the same world as Alkathosk, but more as a bad animal guy.

:) Nice Draise. He's um, somewhere between cute, and deadly.

Thanks! Yeah.. I wanted that look and feel.

I am not sure I will have time to rig him, but the idea is to detail sculpt in Blender and texture in Blender there. Maybe use SMAK to transfer normals and textures to the lowpoly version, maybe rig in TS for the final render with DirectX or do a Cycles tutorial. I am running out of time! I travel the end of this month..

I am happy with the head details for now.

But I am not sure about the back spines. I will have to rethink that.

that's more like it.

If you want organics.. it is good to think in loops, polygon loops, geometry looks, looping patterns. This one works better than the last ones.

Looking good!

I guess it helps to have built in back scratchers. :bananacheers:

Bah.. I am out of time. I was away from my computer and couldn't work much on this character, and I travel morrow and will not have access to a computer at all.... so I now will have to opt out of the competition.

WoW! Looking gr8 there Draise, and still doing it in tS! :)

Makes me want to go back to it again even with all the hassles I've had with it last... been meaning to start learning Blender but just haven't gotten so far :(

Keep up the good work! :bananahi:

You could enter is as is or just render your preferred view with model and textures as they are. Not the finished item like you planned but it is cool now.

Thanks guys, I will do that.

I'm glad you like the WIP as is! I had so many big plans to sculpt it and texture it and UV it in Blender, but oh well.. time escaped me. I hope you like the final render and view, enjoy!
