I just made my first tspline model with the demo of tspline inside Rhino demo.
thats the link of the two worlds....
Using subdivision inside a nurbs application.
Its basically organic modeling for nurbs with all the benefits of nurbs modeling including clean booleans...
and it works smoothly.....

imported into Moi 3d and continued modelling.....

Re: tsplines modelling
Anyone other then Froo know why I´m posting this here ?
There seems to be a common trend of sublimating Truespace with Blender here at this site which is quite strange as the way these
programs work and how you model with them is exactly opposite...
Truespace has a lot of tools to make different shapes and many here use these to make components of the models they want to make and then
glue or boolean these components together to make a whole model.
to be honest that is a very uncommon way normally to model with polygons but its much easier thats why Truespace was
so popular here and people have trouble replacing Truespace.
Nurbs inside truespace was actually its dark side and wasnt very comfortable to use.
The nearest to Truespace in how things are working is actually a nurbs package.
it actually works even cleaner then Truespace ever did because you can glue together and carve out of shapes endlessly
without any penalty and it doesnt screw up your geometry.......
downside of all nurbs packages is its very bad abillity to make organic shapes.....
And thats where the tspline technology kicks in ....
It has the ability to model just like with polygons and make sds shapes of any kind that you can convert to nurbs and glue together just like you
are used to with Truespace......
To put things short.... its the missing link.......
The only downside is the money thing

Re: tsplines modelling
Well I rely on MOI for my nurbs modeling and occasionally I'll use Silo
for polygon modeling. I'll finish the model in trueSpace while using Headus UV Layout
for my UV mapping, back to trueSpace to add my textures. My animation path is up in the air
right now.
For Character work where does T-Spline help me? It is more money. Will it fit in my work-flow?
Why doesn't MOI use it?
Adding Blender to my work is like adding hundreds of new tools to my arsenal.
If you want to use new technology and don't want to spend spend spend then learning
Blender is a cool FREE resource.

Thats the main thing we are trying to get the tspline people to ad a version for Moi3d too(mainly a standalone converter..).Steinie wrote:Well I rely on MOI for my nurbs modeling and occasionally I'll use Silo

Yes you could use it for character work too especially for clothing....
the version we are thinking of is an offspin of tspline for Rhino called T- tool
Ever thought about going from Silo or truespace to moi3d ? This is it !
What you do is model in Silo and convert into nurbs and glue together inside Moi3d or whatever package you have that supports 3dm import..
thats the cool thing about it.
nothing wrong about Blender as a package... its just a polygon by polygon typ of modeling not what truespace was all about but exactly the opposite....
Peter
This is an underwater housing created with tspline and glued together and filleted inside Moi3d..
modeling time 2 minutes !
Polygon - tspline - nurbs.... conversion...
THIS IS ALSO CALLED REVERSE ENGENEERING
both Rhino and t spline work for 25 saves in the evaluation version so if you only need it a few times you dont have to spend anything...
