Interesting competition a la expanded 2.0 version!
I will like to compete in this one, try out TS's animation abilities and workflow with passes.... hmmmmmmmmm......... I just need to setup all my plugins and scripts for Update 3.
I wish I could use my rigged character Minlis for the animation, would that be possible? He's almost ready for animation, just need some mouth controls.... But it's pre-made.
If not, I'll probably just remake something, maybe model a spaceship with a simple rigged guy pop out. I'll think of something.

Gonna have to pass as my entry included high density meshes.
If I would have known I had to animate it, I would have used a bunch of cubes with extrusions stuck out of them.

I would accept an entry that worked the lighting on your scene, it's very flat at the moment. You could animate the lights.

Let me know what else that doesn't meet your standards.Saul wrote:You are happy with this as is?
You dont want to get some shadows at the back there and some spots on the foreground?
Little bit of texture tightening?
Tweaks are acceptable.....

Hey.... he's just trying to be jovial and encourage you to try have some fun. But as always, you're free to do what you feel best to do..... or not to do. No harm, I think, is intended.

Figured out that using Clinton's parenting script, you can parent your object + animation clips to a control object for translation and rotation, and there will not be any problem in the future. Just make the control object invisible before render.

Saul wrote in another thread: "How do i set up a voting page? Question for Finis, how to embed youTube video on these pages?"
When you start a new thread there are options to make it a poll. Use that to make a voting page.
To embed Youtube click "share" under the video on Youtube and see something like this "http://youtu.be/u3SY_lG39-U" in the box there. Copy the part after "http://youtu.be/" ... in this example that is "u3SY_lG39-U". Paste that into a U3DA post, highlight, and click the youtube button in the post controls.

obligatory visual aid:
I usually have the youtube open in one tab, copy the video id ( everything after v= )
Then in the Post reply hit the youtube button
Paste the video ID inside the brackets.
Hovering over the gray buttons should display the correct format in the Tips below the buttons.
Thank you for allowing me to over-explain something.

Funny!
And, I can't help but notice that my animation is included in the poll..
Um... I haven't really finished the complete animation.......
But the animation is... classified as an entry! It's not even close to finishing! Doesn't include anything from the final scene.. it's... um........ Huh? I am yelling in outcry! Well, cool I'm in the competition

Well, I'm confused now.
Usually it is traditional that the person running the contest cannot be a participant in the final poll to receive votes.
If Draise says he isn't finished and isn't close to being finished, are we just voting on one legitimate entry?

Ooops sorry didn't realise that.jamesmc wrote:it is traditional that the person running the contest cannot be a participant in the final poll to receive votes.
Far be it from me to mess with the venerable traditions of the U3DA, i hereby withdraw my entry from the challenge!
Unfortunately votes will have to be recast.
Sorry for the ineptitude.

I'll bet Saul would have won if he had stayed in the competition. Draise would have done something great given time but he does have maybe just few other things to do.
