And they are finally going 64 bit. Not all the new features
have been announced yet.

Looks interesting.
I have some questions after viewing the videos and checking out the website.
The motion capture devise caught my attention the most. Can you create your own characters and
put them in IClone? Do you have to use the IClone bone system? Can you capture movement with ICLone and
export it? (to Poser, trueSpace, Vue) etc. What's with all the "content" stores? This isn't like Poser World where the content is more important then the
software is it?
...and finally the meaning of life question....
Why are there 25 bowling pins in a video when there should be 7?

The physics that I see there are actually something that I expect from Blender....
Looking good though !

Yeah I checked this out the other day, does look interesting. You have to pay for the iclone exchange program though to get yer own content in I think, which kinda sucks. But the ik and character controls look great. I'm keeping an eye out for this.

@steinie:
I asked the google oracle about importing characters into Iclone, and the
clone bone system, and here is one interesting discussion I found:
http://forum.cgpersia.com/f74/import-av ... one-30830/"
(sorry for quoting that web site, but at least there are no requests
for cracked software in this particular discussion - this is just one of the
answers that came up in the google search.)
here's one called "Create iclone character with maya:
http://developer.reallusion.com/whitepa ... index.html"
I have to sit down and study these threads myself....
Anyway, as for exporting motion capture, up to version 4 Iclone has been
very proprietary. You could basically only export to a video editor,
(or maybe after effects, I dunno.) not to another 3d software. I hope
this changes, especially with the new motion capture feature.
I really hope reallusion is not all about the content and not the software.
They do seem to get less complaining than one sees on the Daz forums.
I hope that means something.
@rayman:

I thought it was great fun to see way too many bowling pins rolling around
on the floor like that.
I am hoping they will announce they are moving up to directx 11. That would really be
something.

Re: Iclone 5 is looking interesting.....
First,
I found this page:
http://www.reallusion.com/iclone/3dx_pipeline.asp"
which includes videos on the zbrush, blender, and vue
to Iclone pipeline.
Then I looked around in the 3dxchange forum, and found these topics:
3DXchange and Animating Results
http://forum.reallusion.com/Topic72051-85-1.aspx"
RL Bones or Character Studio Bip Skeleton?
http://forum.reallusion.com/Topic58571-85-1.aspx"
Clonebone
http://forum.reallusion.com/Topic41166-85-1.aspx"
questions about characters
http://forum.reallusion.com/Topic30048-85-1.aspx"
3DXchange4 - Collada import
http://forum.reallusion.com/Topic46117-196-1.aspx"
It looks like most of the people are wanting to discuss
importing characters from either Daz or 3DS.
Maybe it would help to see the key features of 3dxchange?
http://www.reallusion.com/iclone/3dx_fe ... ersion.asp"
Anyway, apparently an upgrade will be coming for 3dxchange 4,
but not right away, and the features are still secret.

It's kinda pricey but I think iclone pro might be worth it if it really delivers all it says. Check out the deal going on on the purchase page though. You can get pro and xchange pro and a few other goodies for 299. Not too shabby. A little outta my range right now though.
