I'm not doing 3D anymore or on the Forums, simply because I don't want to.

That's sad because I like it, but I just don't want and it's not lack of time or things like that , it's like 40% lack of time and 60% lack of will, because in my free time I just want pleasure and even when I'm fulfill of it and have more free time I just keep seeing TV, playing, talking, etc.

Man I will start punching my self! Why my brain don't put some Serotonin while I do it.

Anyway I'm forcing my self against my will to do it. I'll messing around with my old mine.

Lately I realize how the world is bad and the society pushes us to an hole of alienation, I know this sound hippie, but well... that's true.

I think I've been there..
You are burdened.. You work hard..
Perhaps other problems....
This has sapped your inspiration and
creative things have no appeal...
Around here we call it being in a Funk...

There is only one way I know to get
out of it...
You have to force yourself to do the
things you know you love.. Like 3d Modeling..
Even though you don't feel like it...
In a shorter time than You think right now
you will remember why You like these things so much..
and You'r normal desire to pursue your passions
will return..

I knew that. when a few years ago everything turns black. What is new is the frequency and intensity with which young people feel that. The main thing is that everything is changing too fast, and sometimes without good reason (just to sell). Young people think they should be at the top level because they are constantly competing and do not take the time to live. Leon: there is no best. you have the ability to learn but that is not why you should use it. when we do not want to do something that we love, is because we are too demanding and we are afraid of failure. It's nice to take a break but do not see this as a failure.
You speak about alienation and it is very important. having awareness of it is already good. Our world consumption is dangerous only for those who follow slavishly without knowing their true needs. I do not need the latest version of the latest software to express myself. I do not waste my time to be at the highest level. I have often said on this forum that people spend too much time to learn without knowing what they want to do before. That's the real question, but they have no time to think about that.
Take a break, play, think and come back when you want.

I had most will when I was on highschool and played lot of PC games too :) My brain got the fun and relaxing from the games and then I had energy for the 3D ;) I always need a balance between fun and doing 3D. I just cant come from work and make something in tS.
Also making smaller projects, that takes only few days is good motivation, because I see the result of my work. The same is why I do testrenders often, it keeps me focused and motivated.
Or seek some job for money and money will motivate you ;D

The World is not bad, there are just bad things in the world. If you focus only on the bad you will not enjoy life. The news on the television focuses on bad issues since that is what the viewer expects.
When does the traffic slow down to view roses on the side of the road instead of an accident?
The issues of the world are important but don't drown in it.
Get outside and live!
I like to backpack, plant a garden, sit out in the sun at the beach, enjoy a beer, watch a sport outside, fly a kite with a child, visit my friends, or have a bbq...
I spend time here reading everyone's post about 3D Art and how they approach a project. Seeing different techniques using the same software. Having a common desire to create magic using our 3d software. Trying to represent life on our computers at home. A good one I hope.

I'll focus my Art on the humorous portions of life. Making others smile is my reward.

Boy I realy know how you feel ! I have that too sometimes and also had it the past few weeks... It was mainly a new girlfreiend that kept me away from
3d and my lots of work in my job. She likes to go out on Fridays and Saturdays until 5 in the morning and I´m dead for the coming week......
I guess I´m getting old.
But I think I´m already back to 3d.......
it just took some time to recover a little bit..

I felt just that way last year or so...just after the demise of Caligari (as we know it) and before I kicked in with my Buddy World (online) project. Again, I am in a bit of a rut but that is down to having no time to devote to the project and begin bogged down with marking and assessments at school. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel and the break always does us good.
Perhpas the stuff you make next will be even better!

Participating in online anything can be a shock to one's sensibilities. Men, more than women struggle to mete out their expectations versus reality, primarily because of the male competitive nature.

There is probably some deep, psychological motivation why people do 3D art. It sort of reminds me when one first gets complimented by their elementary teacher for "coloring between the lines." You know, achievement and the expected praise that follows.

The problem or I should say reality in the world of 3D, is that standards have been set by the motion picture industry and game producers. We see these exotic scenes and artwork, trying our best to come up with something original and of course, worthy to float up to the forefront of audience attention.

I fall in the category of 3D hobbyist and at my age, I do it for mental stimulation. I'm not a craftsman, a mechanic, a sportsman nor can I cook like a Chef. I enjoy the power of creation and to modify the elements of my imagination onto a screen.

With 3D projects, it speaks for itself. To one's own perspective, they are often the most critical of themselves, but often critique from others and indifference from those who don't do 3D art nor understand it - is dauntingly bruising to a personal psyche. You know, "Why are you spending so much time on that computer!"

Often, I get greater pleasure after manicuring my lawn with toil and sweat than I do any other thing. Some people comment on the view of an aesthetically looking lawn, but most pass by not caring one way or the other. We are creatures susceptible to audience critique whether we realize it or not.

Taking a break is good, but can prick on some hidden recess of the brain on why we struggle the insationable desire for aesthetics and artistic achievement.

Of couse, instead of getting all philosphical about it, we can simply remind ourselves, "that it is, what it is."

Hey Leon, if you're not in the mood to do it, then don't do it.
It's not a job, after all. On a job, we have to do it, whether we are 'in the mood', or not.
So, do what you want to do. You'll get in the mood for 3d again.
You've been really prolific (very active) with 3d in the past several months.
I attribute it to your subconscious mind planning the next large steps in your creativity.

After 1654 post ( a great achivement in this forum, which you would be proud of) it's not strange what you hav got a little tired of 3D.

In all it's same for me. I have lost my interest in working in Truespace. Thats life. Sometimes it's good to take a rest from things. Sooner or later the interest is back.

Dont force to do something whats should be fun. You dont need to do it for earning. You are young and do the things that you enjoy instead.

Sometimes, often really, things are much more simple than we think. You are probably just tired of 3D and need to take a break. When you do enough, or too much, of one thing you get "burned out". After you rest for a while by not doing that you will be enthused and capable again.

It is possible though that you have changed course ... that your mind and creativity are through with 3D and you will find another thing that inspires you.

Either way, just take a break from 3D. If you are just tired then your 3D motivation will return. If you changed course then you will find your new interest.

I've been taking a break from 3d except now I am playing alot of 3d games . Ahmmm maybe a different sort of 3d work. My main goal in 3d was to express my inventions, mostly mechanical through 3d. More of a technical motive. Of course I ended up do all sorts of other things since very interesting and fun at the time plus the ocean currents so to speak took me away. I just found Rosetta, tS 7.x series utterly fascinating and very powerful. Well riding around in the ocean in circles doesn't get you to far, so for me it is kinda like a break with an anchor out so I can get my bearings. One thing in 3d is one can have so many ideas and projects that one wants to do that it itself becomes a stop. Which way do I go and which one should I finish etc. Plus the game developers and movie producers that some of us compare ourselves to have millions of dollars and literally hundreds of organized folks working on it. So I see alot of times people compare themselves, one individual to a large, well funded group which really isn't realistic. Having fun is great motivation, achieveing relistic goals is very rewarding as well. Will I come back to 3d, well hell yeah, it in the end is very fun if I don't get too serious about it.

Personally I always have a varied degree of interest in different things. Sometimes I like 3D, other times I don't do it at all. Currently I am in a photographic period instead of 3D....
You all know that I have a bad habit of starting "work in progress" that doesn't really get some progress.

Now I also was recommended to try a new software and I have to say I didn't get it at all....
So I grabbed my trusted 20D and went outside instead. Inspiration will come again.

Ok this need a particular reply to each post, I'll do that tomorrow (I guess).

Yes. This has allowed everyone to express themselves on his moods. It is important to know that it is normal to doubt, especially when you have an artistic sensibility.

yea, you cant create something all the time. Everyone needs rest from time to time. You cant produce art like you were working in some factory. Artists needs to gain power, inspiration etc. as fuel.

It's not your job, don't do it so rigorously, I remember you telling me about 'I must keep busy' 'I can work on this all the time', burn out will happen, and rather recently, especially judging by the posts in here, everyone's motivation has been given a kick to the face, I went down to the RAF careers office the other week, because I've had asthma on my medical history, due to changes in the selection rules that the RAF just one week prior to me making the trip down, I am now ineligable to be a pilot

Or so you think, and here comes the "silver lining" part of this one, I can appeal against the decision and I have four years in which to ensure I can in fact stand head and shoulders above all other applications in such a way that my previous history with asthma is no longer considered an issue

You aren't interested in 3D perhaps because 'Over-resting' is a rather common factor that leads to lack of will, I remember you saying you wish to go into politics, much in the same way I've deviated from 3D artwork to pursue a career in the RAF. Try focusing on as many different things as possible.
Guitar/dums/violin/tuba/piano
Running/cycling
Drawing
Languages, as I remember you taught me the basic principles of portuguese in one sitting, I'm still waiting on the next one
Taekwondo/Krav Maga/Karate/Shotocan
Read up on history, the war, music, aeodynamics/thermodynamics/Quantum physics
The more skills the better, the busier you are the less of an over rest cycle you're in and dividing your time will mean you're happier to spend time on 3D that won't mean you've 'done it to death', that and with your other knowledge and skills they can be applied to your art
