Quickest way of generating characters with clothes

Post by splinters »

Hi guys, been away for a while but always look in.
I have a question. Deep Space Doris needs characters for her new books but I don't really have time to model dozens of different characters only the main ones. I have cleverly (lazily) written the story so that in the future everyone is obsessed with plastic surgery and there are two or three main looks people can have. Chillingly they all look very similar.

Anyway, I have poser and Daz studio but don't really like them. Are these the best programs for what I want or is there something else?
I don't need monsters or caricatures but I would like to avoid that generic poser look if possible. They need to fit into the rest of the illustrations after all.

Cheers in advance for any advice.

Paul what you dont realy like is Poser DEFAULT character..... but you can export a character from Poser and morph it to something you realy like at the outside and apply that as a morph target... that works very well ! It could be anything from anime style to realistic..... its up to you..
same as for Daz it works with that too ! There is only one catch ! You must not change the vertices of a mesh..... once you do that you cant
use it as a morph target anymore....

You could model 2 sets of arms, 2 sets of shirts, 2 sets of pants, 2 sets of legs/shoes and like one or two generic heads with morphs and shapes to toggle and randomly change on a base mesh. With that you can get like 8 different characters from a minimal amount of modelling. Boolean bonanza!

EDIT: in trueSpace, Blender, Maya, anything with modelling and shape morph targets and Proportional modelling, or soft selections.
