From me to You - Armour Textures!

Post by Jason Rogers »

Blended these a couple days ago, thought it might be worth putting them up for grabs incase anyone here needs some nice looking armour textures for a project :)

Modelled entirely in Blender 2.5b, render using a carefully positioned orthographic camera to ensure seamless tiling.

Sorry i dont know the correct names for them, but i do know that they are all legitimate forms of chain and scale type armours lol

For the record, this next one is in fact Scale (round-scale) variety, not chain/ring ;)

Even if they arent usefull to you, go ahead and grab them anyways - you never know! :D

KEWL! Thanks James, will come in very handy...

Was it easy to do in Blender? I downloaded and installed 2.5b but haven't gotten into it yet... need to go through the manual and some tutorials first...

looking very good... maybe you could make bump map from a Z dimension (camera to object), if blender can render it.

I'm sure its possible, but i dont know how  im going to try cheating later and use a high res plane and shrinkwrap it down over the top to get an impression of the model. Should work well.. in theory.. :D

Noted! ;)

I will work on both Tangent normal maps, and Alpha maps.. but it most likely wont be untill i actually need to use the textures myself..

In the mean-time it should'nt be too hard for anyone to create a basic alpha map.. Just open the image in an editor, convert to greyscale, and play around with the brightness and contrast so you get a black and white image. Should get fairly reasonable results and could always touch it up afterwards :)
