HPGL export?

Post by Galane »

What I'd love to see is an HPGL/1 export TSX for converting flat planes into HPGL PLT files.

All it'd need to do is convert single polygons, of any number of sides, into a text file that follows the HPGL/1 standard. It should have options to select paper size and where the origin is, center or one of the corners.

In spite of HP inventing HPGL and making the origin of most of their plotters Upper Left, some plotters use a center or lower right origin and/or added their own commands.

The easiest way to do the output would be to require the object to be converted to be a single polygon laying flat on the grid. I can envision the hideous math required to create a PLT file from a single selected face of a model that can be sitting in any orientation.

I'm wanting to take some shapes from the Space Battleship Yamato cosmo gun I'm working on, plot them on paper then use that as a pattern for cutting the shapes from MDF on my bandsaw.
