Been going through a host of video players to find one that plays most everything but uses the least RAM-CPU...

IT's TOUGH! Not so bad for new power machines but for older single or dual cores it seems like newer versions of just about anything are eating up more CPU-RAM when playing the same damn file you always played before...

So I been going through my CDs & DVDs trying many players you never heard of but one of the best was this Dziobas RAR Player

As the name suggests you can play videos in RAR files as well as just the regular way....

ive been using Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPCHC) for years and its very lightweight. Or also VLC is a good one. No need to use anything exotic.

Also depends on what you call an old PC - ofc you need video decoding via graphics card, otherwise decoding HD or 4k is quite CPU intensive.

I use this fork version of media player classic home, MPC-BE, you can have a vignette preview on the lecture bar, dark theme and more, i don't use media player classic home anymore since i discover this version:

Yeah I've tried new-old of everything probably 25-30 different players...

Dziobas RAR player is actually based on that MPC player...It's just got alot more going for it...

Yeah I still use KMPlayer & VLC Player & a few others but they are secondarys these days...
