Prize Scale Ideas

Post by LeonRegis »

With so many things going on I'll add one more...
I know that it isn't something concrete and the Admn/Mod didn't think it is important, but if something really good appear here I think they will change their mind! ;)

So just put here something about the prize scale. Ideas for the names-nominations or the images.
Just to not start it in blank I create quickly using my WW2 helmet and one thing here in my files...
The name of the scale I don't know but it's something like: Sargent, Lieutenant and General (you can change it if do you have better names), I did it following the idea of the own forum names (Marine, Petty Officer, etc).
Comment and post please!

I think, those user titles don't make sense in the actual mode. In some cases, if someone is asking very much, they transmit the wrong impression of a ranking, which means that a beginner can have a higher "ranking" than a dev with years of real experience and knowledge. Despite that, I suggest to keep off militarizing the old man. ;)

I'd prefere the caligari approach with customer editable neutral default titles, changing by time and not by quantity of posts, if not customized. If it had been possible, I had changed mine to:

Petty Officer, 5th glass (no typo - hicc^s) :bananacheers:

It is exactly what I want Booxie, sorry for don't explain it first! I have the same point the view of you, this the why of create this topic, make the best Prizes go to who do things happen and not who just post, post and post. Here is the explanation that you can find at this topic that I made before:

Prize Scale: This is an idea from caligari and others. As we know we already have a scale but it's based in the number of posts and a good example it's me, I post a lot but even who posts just 30 times and in this 30 times help 30 person he is better than me that post craps sometimes, the Prize Scale will provide some special things that ( if it happens) the moderators will choose... PI: I just think this is a good Idea
Topic: vi ... 48&start=0" - Comparing 3D Forums

I also think is strange use military denominations but I was with no ideas and don't want to start the topic without a idea, so I just took a helmet here and put those symbols...

Hi leonregis, thanks for answering. So I misunderstood your intention, 'cause I didn't read the other thread (I haven't checked other 3D Forums yet!) ...

... certainly you're right ... and I still need a changeable custom title, for expressing my mood ...

The Caligari forums have a reputation thing. It is the green box in the header of a post. That may be the measurement you are looking for. Reputation is improved or made worse by forum members based on their opinions of you and your posts. It is not based on number of posts or how long you have been a member. I agree that the customizable statement line is good.

I'd show
-- Post count shows how much you participate.
-- Reputation shows what other members think of you.
-- Custom statement line lets you express yourself.

The reputation would probably be a social popularity indicator more than based on the actual worth of posts but it might be the closest thing we'll get to a quality meter. Moderators don't have time to determine such things. I think in this forum the moderators could base such a score on post quality but I also think that is rare.

Thank you very much Finis!
I think that reputation it's good too, but Prize Scale that I want to be implement doesn't work with time or posts, work like this: The Admin or Moderator can indicate some member to some scale of prize (if he does good things, it will be responsibility of who choose) then he just post it and wait to see if this member accept the prize and/or if any member is opposed to this, then he wins the prize. This works like in caligari, that the caligari team choose the Gold Ambassadors.
Understand?

Many thanks ideed!

I think the ranks is not an important thing. The help I can get and give are the most important thing. The amount of post has no relevance. A short post of "Great job" can be as good as a long explanation of what to do. As an old pacifist. ( I didn't do the swedish military education. Instead I did my service in the RED CROSS) I am not a great fan of something like military grades. In the whole I dont care about the ranks. It's that I can get and give thats important.

I think the great thing is that if I have a problem, people all over the world will help and assist me. This is a great and positive thing about human nature: To help an assist.

Tommy,

This rank for who helps the community it's not like a rank that seen before, it is not to rank people but to reward who helps, this is the cause of input at the prize scale some special features (undefined yet).
I'm very regretful to put this image, I'm not the type that like militarism, weapons, soldiers, death... I don't know what I'm becoming :bananasad: I have a WIP about WW2 ongoing, when I finish it maybe I never do a real weapon again...

PS: I admire you so much to do service at RED CROSS instead the army! Hope I waived from military service (Since Brazil is not in war and we have enough soldiers).

I think the Internet and what we do in this forum are a big contribution to piece. Discussion about problems with people all over the world about a common interest . This is the first time I ever communicate with a person in Brazil and we think the same about military service!. This, I believe, means much for our younger people. My son, for example has friends in both Germany and USA who helps him with his homeworks.

I also believe that if the billions of dollars that is spend in military force in Irak and Afghanistan instead had been used in healthcare, education and raising peoples living standard there hadn't been any Islamic fundatelism.

So to all members in tscommunity: continue to communicate!!

I think the same Tommy, I never communicate with somebody from Sweden and I think that amazing, I'm also very young.
The prize scale could have another name, like U3DA Ambassadors (but then we are copying caligari's idea, and that's not cool), so we need to choose all that parameters, as I said before it is to reward those good members and not to rank people.
Do you know that just with the money spend in Iraq we could conquest Mars? And they say that NASA don't have founds... I'd say to you, the only thing that still slowdown the humanity is the war, hope Obama or anybody there do something for that, if not I'll run for president

Best Wishes

I have one suggestion from the academic world.

Newborn member
Infant member
Schoolchild
Senior high student
Undergraduate
University teacher
Assistant professor
Professor
Head (For Prodigny)
Emeritus professor. (Honorary doctor. Title for a person who has a long duty at the community and now have retired from it)

Not a perfect list. Who wants to be an infant?

Yes you have made a very good suggestion. I'm not familiar with the grades of foreign universities. I used a swedish-english dictionary to translate the swedish school age system.
