Do we have anything like this in TS?

Hi rjeff.
There's nothing built in, to trueSpace, which performs this sort of processing.
There is, however, the now-Free blender fluid sim importer package for Workspace.

Shoot me a link for that Froo..I would like to check it out. I assume it can make a static image so I can use it in a still life?

hi Jeff. Check out the article on this page:

http://truespaceplugins.com/home.html"

In my folder there, is the fluid sim importer plugin, documentation, as well as IK Handel's video tutorials on IK rigging for Workspace.

Yes, You can create a fluid simulation in blender, import it into truespace; then, load a single 'frame' of the fluid sim for a still.

i saw Crimple procedural bump map looking very similar some years ago. But i think it wasnt animatable, but iam not sure. Anyway its only a bumpmap.

Shader Magic or something like it had a wave shader.

There used to be 2 plug-ins for tS that would provide the fx your looking for.

One was called Wave Generator by Lightning Software and the other was Dyna Wave by Mentemagica. But this was a few years back and have no idea if they are still available.

Design Devil has a website with tons of links to tS plug-ins which might help you to track them down.

its teoretically still available. But no idea about ts7 compatibility. This was the best. I have demo of wave generator, which is a little bit usefull, but the waves are too simple.

edit: order button doesnt work, but maybe it can be solved with an email.

another way is to make animated bumpmap, this can look good.

or make some plane full of waves (with some random generator, for instance in cool powers, maybe using SDS if its too sharp then) and some more planes and animate their height (maybe some movement - direction of waves), so they will blend through each other. This can look quite interesting maybe aswell. Maybe in combination with animated bump...

Its been a long time since I tryied some things with water. But there are many ways to work it out.

Thanks for all the replies. What I am mainly looking for is just a static image of waves to render still images. Animation is not my strong suite. I want to take the wave image into Bryce to render. Bryce can do water but tall waves it is hard for it to do.

so for polygonal tall waves, maybe I would pick some random terain generator, such is in coolpowers plugin pack.. cp 2, or 3, dont know now. or an extruder plugin - it can extrude bumpmap into real polygon shape. Or it can do displacement mapping in worskpace, its the same thing. If the result will be too sharp, use SDS. It should look well.

"WaveGenerator 1.5" (plug-in) for trueSpace. You can add layers and layers
of different types of waves and amplitudes over subdivided flat surfaces
and subdivided 3D geometry. It's FAST and works great with tS6.6 and
7.61 too. (Model Side) Also, it's still available at http://www.virtualsoftware.com/ProdPage.cfm?ProdID=754"

Also, "DynaWave" tS Plugin. It creates real wave simulation/deformations
from 3D objects. It has "fans" for wind surface waves too. Look here to
see.... http://mentemagica.com/wp/category/research/"
This one is hard to get your best bet is to try and geta copy of the
Caligari "AniPak". It was one of SEVERAL disks Caligari released with lots
of tS PlugIns on them. DePak, AniPak, FXPak, and RayPak.

ShaderLab Shaders have procedural shaders that do water and water
drop effects too, very well. Not a true surface deformation just a texure map.
But with spec and bump mapping looks very good. http://www.tmgcgart.com/ShaderLab/html/ ... ection.htm"
This stuff is now freely available too. Was also on Caligari RayPak.
