Sort of
Hey guys, I've not been around at all for various reasons, for that I apologise.
University Started, with lots of 'Fun' adventures to sort out, rougue postmen, drink drivers, washing machines, the odd sexual harrasment case, a taxi with a neuroscientist, mathemeatician and a football rep across a fault line, searching the English Midlands for a 20x20 tent, beach parties up a mountain, surviving a zombie apocolypse with vampires, that sort of thing.
On top of that, I'm no longer attending any course that involves 3D art, and in response to a particular career route not working out this year, so I stand a chance next year I'm now using up most of my time getting my arse launched about a Jujitsu dojo for a couple of hours, and then the following mornings creaking out of bed and Flying gliders
First time I've touched TS in a while, I promise to get back to as much as I can this weekend while the weather's crap and I'm not going anywhere
For those who remember the Ridley Model I did back on the Caligari Forum, I'm revisiting that game. And because the crappy windows blowing open in the middle of the night, I wake up to find my arms frozen stiff and unable to move them comfortably at all, I decided to give walking anywhere like a gorrilla a miss and got down to business of flopping my arms onto a keyboard and mouse
I searched for references for this all over the web only to get back more than three varieties of creepy porn, a man in his undies and a stormtrooper helmet and a carrot with arms and legs per useful image I found. But what useful images I did use are really rather pretty
Here's what I have so far, more to come later

Well it isn't 3D modelling, because theres a certain frame of mind you have to be in to do that. You also need to have the files on hand, which I forgot, so instead while my housemates BANGING TUNES were bouncing my chair across the room similar to that old and rattly washing machine that you need to put back in its hole every week, I figured I'd work on a bit of mood music
I could make some rubbish up about because how it's 'fan work' I'm working to a specification of sorts, the 'new take on an old concept' but really I just liked the themes. See how many you can spot in this remix, thats only about 2/5 completed

While you're doing Jiu Jitsu look up Yoga For Fighters http://yogaforfighters.com/ I don't know if you're taking BJJ or just regular JJ, but it helps a ton with flexibility and recovery.

Re: Steve's Back
I would say it's regular Jujitsu, but even more relaxed on the art itself, we use more strikes and blocks and kicks than the regular art would probably want, there are a couple of guys who have come from Karate and I myself come from taekwondo prior so my strength lies in landing a murdersome kick if I can and the senseis there are more interested on whether we can handle what comes our way and actively encourage us to continue the manouver and find an alternative way out if we make a wrong move using our loaves rather than learning a 'proper technique', incorrect technique when you're about to get a knife in your face is secondary and likely to damage your assailant more, which is what we want really.
Recovery isn't too much of an issue, only in the cold weather we have now but that usually only sets in the day after I've flown.
Grading is in four weeks though. Eeep

Re: Steve's Back
Well. I've landed my first aircraft (technically three times, we hit the 'ski ramp' on the airfield, bounce, bounce and bounce!) and in the same night I did this update.
The blue body is just proving that the design CAN fit around a person.
I should have been doing other things like sleeping or assignments on fluid dynamics or design technologies but instead I spent an age trying to model a piece of armour for Samus' backside that neither looked like hotpants nor compromised the fact that she would need to move her legs.
And also backpacks and jump pads, next stop, either arms or legs
(Side note, a group on Deviantart wanted to put my work in their fan gallery, half an hour later 50 MERSSAGES AND MORE GALLERY REQUESTS YE GODS)

Cool, very nice
I like the helmet, somehow it reminds me of the master chiefs helmet in Halo.

You might not realise it, but that made me laugh so hard I was incapacitated for about 5 minutes.MikomDude wrote:Cool, very niceI like the helmet, somehow it reminds me of the master chiefs helmet in Halo.
In my class it was either 'Halo' or 'Metroid', Blasphemy to like the one the buddy next to you didn't like, in one sentence you've proved that most space marine armour is exactly the same
And the next part, arms from hell, bloody things

And if that doesn't work or if an image that's too large for your PC unfolds in your face

For a woman, she certainly does have a big set of balls on her shoulders
Very nicely modeled.
