I loved this feature back on the old Caligari website, reckon it could be done for U3DA? If it's somethign that both Stenie and Prodigy can't do I'd be willing to, feature one artist's work every two months?

Thoughts?

I think this is a great idea! I have no complaints when someone else would like to start something here at U3DA.
Everyday Prodigy and I check this Forum for spammers and new memberships so the more users wanting
to help the better. Everyone is more then welcome to join in with ideas and give us a hand.
With that being said if you get a good group of people willing to do one man shows then jump right in!

How I'd suggest it would work is perhaps I write each one man show up on the forums here, then if there's time the onn the main page, we make a new link down the side and we park the article for the artist in for each month there?

Is there anyone willing to help decide on each artist?

Would it be a good idea to either, make a post on the forums or email you directly weevil, suggesting an artist, and possibly why that particular artist's images/animations are interesting?

Personally, I would say email or PM me here at the forums, why and any examples you have would make it a lot better for the person deciding, and also that way at the bottom we might be able to have something similar to what Deviant Art does for its 'Daily Deviations' which are shown at the bottom of the homepage each day. (Box with the heart showing who suggested it and a quote from them saying why)

Unless members decide we would like to make voting public and it should become more of a voting system like with MMCs. The only drawback I could see with the second option is that nominees might think 'that guy's more liked than me'.

I think the judge system would be better, as in the original One man show at the caligari. It would avoid any problem that poll would generate.

Well I really don't know, but I think polls isn't right the way.

I think the selection should be a surprise.

I'd like to see one man shows here. Not too many though since they should be for the truly exceptional talent. If it is done too often then eventually everyone will have one. Don't make it just for TS.

SET IT UP
- Anyone wishing to be on the panel would declare their candidacy in a post with a for/against poll and state why they should be on the panel. Forum members would vote and a simple majority of for votes would place the candidate on the panel.

RUN IT
- When a panel member leaves the panel then an election similar to above would be held for a replacement. This time with a "pick one candidate" poll.
- Forum members can create a recall poll to remove a panel member. If removed then that person would be banned from being a panel member again.

PICK ARTISTS
- Forum members would nominate artists for one man shows. A nomination thread would be started and open to posts for some specified time period. This is where members would post to nominate someone. At the end of that period the panel would choose one or none of the nominees. A new nomination thread would be started for the next time period.
- The panel could only consider nominees for one man shows.
- The panel would discuss the nominees and then vote twice. Once to pick a single finalist from a time period's nominees (simple majority) and again yes/or (supermajority 70% or so) on that finalist getting a show.
- Panel members can be nominated, including by themselves, but cannot vote for themselves.
