I was going to sit out on this one. Good theme but I've little time. But if I get an idea that is easy to do ...

Get those entries ready! Make them good. I'm not enthused about winning, especially by default, since I want to see other people's ideas for challenges.

James get it done we need more competion here

We have two good entries however it would be great to have more competition.
(I even had an idea for one but couldn't find the time) so I know how it feels!
Let's all decide what to do next. Wait for James and others, start the poll, let it run another Month, figure out a
way to stimulate interest in our competitions, etc.
Here are my thoughts on why we don't have interest as we once had.

Lack of time
Lack of interest/other interest
No Reward/Award/Goal
Not enough viewers for feedback
Lack of support
Physical/Mental/Social reasons
Lack of Talent
Lack of experience
Lack of resources
Not my specialty (coders, script writers,animators etc.)
No purpose

I'm for extending the deadline. That has worked in low participation times before. Pugman1's decision needed since he is in charge of this one.

I think another issue is dwindling interest in TS. The primary appeal of this forum to 3d artists, other than the community from the Caligari days, was/is TS. Other forums are already well developed to support other software and there is Deviant Art etc. for artistic feedback or discussion. As TS fades from the 3D scene so will interest in this fourum unless it becomes software independent and not just (mostly) TS.

People have been working on non-challenge projects. Mikom's spaceships, Splinters' Limbo, Draise's pumpkins and shopping center.

Ok i say let it run another monnth,
I would love to see more input into this ,it does not matter what software you use its about
learning and having fun doing iit, maybe one day we can sort prises for this somehow
Maybe we donate into a paypal acount just for this..just a thought

Oh! Another month! That means.. I COULD actually redo it.. or would I have to do another entry?

Concerning use, well just telling friends, sharing about the site, going to other forums and sharing about this one.

I am starting to see how Cellulo is promoting every software free here.. that could be a cool incentive, everything here is practically made in free software anyway, a good attraction, now to just market it with the people we know, and their people, and so forth.

Maybe... just being more open about our projects and techniques and just posting it here to the forum. I am sure people would like a nice community outside of the others ones every now and then.

But wow, an actual prize to a competition!? That could become huge!

Prizes: I think Prodigy doesn't want that. It would probably increase participation in challenges but it is not the same as "A place for have some fun." I started to design badges ("MMC Winner", "SMC Winner") to display to note your challenge wins and someone (V3rd3?) noted that Prodigy didn't want that. Maybe members could donate models or textures etc. for prizes but most of us just post that kind of stuff for free for everyone.

People used to have many projects other than challenges.

I see.... makes sense.

Maybe the "losers" have to upload and give their prize project and assets to the winner? Something simple and fun like that?

As for a prize, i entered an animation contest on another site. It was a "Pin Head Project" I did it in iclone 5... Everyone that participated got a certificate e-mailed to them to print out.... Maybe we could do the same. If you win you get a certificate. It's like a badge...

Also, i think you should extend the dead lines... Maybe give two months... I know the lack of time because of life kills me.....

Although I am not running this Month's Challenge I am helping out.
I know James had an entry and like all of us had other issues to contend to. There are only two entries and the Challenge has declined in participation lately. We are trying to bring it back to life if possible. My participation is just as important as everyone else, maybe I can also contribute.
Maybe if we all help out just a little more we can make this a lively place again. Heck I love coming here!
