6.5 on New System.....

Post by janetb »

I see from the archives that there are probably a lot of folks out there who want to do some serious hardware upgrading but don't want to move from TS6.5 to TS 7.6. I'm one of them. But those posts are mostly quite old, so I was wondering if there is some recent info on what others have experienced in their attempts and what they are doing. Dual booting? Keeping an old computer hooked up just for TS? Is the problem solved by using 7.6 on 64-bit Win 7 and just sticking to the Model side? I installed 7.6 again today to see if I could get long with it after all, but did not find the model side of 7.6 to handle like my old 6.5. I hate the new icons and don't like having all that extra stuff around the Desktop. And it was not nice and clear like my 6.5. And it said I couldn't render--that it didn't find D3D on my system (I can run my old 6.5 on either D3D OR OpenGL).

Has anyone managed to set up the model side of 7.6 so it looks like and handles like the old 6.5?? That would, of course, solve all the problems.

Is there any way to change all the icons to the old 6.5 icons?

What is the proper way to import all my old TS6.5 settings/layout/customization into the model side of 7.5?

You could try this as an alternative.

iam old truespace layout fan aswell. And Ive been using 7.6 only model side for years with no problems. Its just like the old good tS6.6. I dont see any problem. I just use the default tS6 layout that is avaiable in ts7.x

Well workspace side is another thing.... thats true and I dislike it either.

In fact the Workspace is like all other 3d software. he lost his originality. Is more technical than artistic. Not for me. Better to start on something more finished and continue with what I master well.

exactly, my words.

if development will ever continue - I hope that DX9 engine and new features will be included in modelside-like environment. The right panel would be good for docking the floating windows for ppl that would like to do it (for many open miniwindows and chance to hide them), why not (ability to float or dock small options window there). That would be truespace that I love.
