I never realized that there is a relation between V-Ray rendering speed and the real-time acceleration mode in Modeler !
In my current setup (AMD graphic card and Catalyst driver version 13.12), OpenGL is fine to work with, while D3D often lead to memory issues.
But V-Ray rendering is VERY slow on a 3d window set to OpenGL mode.
In my configuration (again, this may depend on your graphc card and driver version), V-Ray rendering speed is
- VERY FAST in a WireFrame display mode window (= no GPU acceleration),
- Average in a D3D window,
- VERY slow in an OpenGL window.
TrueSpace handles 3D windows with different display modes though, so you can have an OpenGL main window to work in, and a small Wireframe mode dedicated to render tasks
I'm curious. How does YOUR V-Ray behaves on YOUR confirguration ? Is it always faster when launched from a Wireframe window ?

Re: V-Ray speed and Modeler real-time rendering mode
I have never seen it go slow... interesting. I will check it if I recall that at home.

Exactly the same. It takes half a minute to render 20x20 pixel square. I thought it was just me.
While working with D3D windows is flawless.
