PhysCloth animation

Post by Saul »

I am unable to get the Cloth physics to save animation:
Load a Plane, 20x20 segments, give it default cloth attributes
Lift it off the floor and place a Cube beneath
Open keying panel, browse attributes, add all PhysCloth keys to Plane
Check saveAnim in PhysEngine panel
Start simulation
Simulation plays correctly
The saved animation shows Plane passing straight through the Cube and not interacting at all.
What me doing wrong?

Manual says "Limitations- Cloth simulation cannot be captured to keyframes for rendering of animations"
However, there is a way to Render to File with this setup
Generate Keyframes.png
.
Steps
Set up Render to File "Save sequence starting with 0"
Open a 3D Window and set the "Work area dimensions" to match the Render to File settings
With the Plane selected in the Animation Editor, Right click the Clip and select "Generate Key Frames"
Attachments
RenderToFile.RsScn

Doh!
I must have read through PDFMan/Ch10_Physics.pdf 10 times, never noticed the 'limitations'....where is it?
Thanks for the workaround, i'll check it out....
