Hi truespacers
I am David (from Peru) and work as a graphic designer. Let me tell you a little bit about myself: I started using truespace 3.2 in 2004 while watching tutorials at Kidzonline.org (hosted by Ian Dale, anybody has those wonderful tutorials?). Back then it was just to complement my 2d design skills (and for fun!) but later I used TS for professional work, not heavily since I mostly work in 2D but any need for 3d modeling was done in TS. All was done in version 3.2. I regularly browsed caligari forum and so I downloaded v. 7.x to be up to date. Unfortunately my brain can not adapt to the new way of things and to this date I keep using 3.2 as it is what I know and feel comfortable with, after all I spent years using it and as I mentioned I was trained with tutorials specifically for that version. I few months ago I was reading a history of TS and v. 4.3 is regarded as the most stable version while being very close in resemblance to 3.2. Is it crazy if I want to use it? Is it even crazier if v. 4.3 sounds more appealing to me than 7.6?
Don´t get me wrong. I tried Blender, 3d Max and Cinema 4D. They were left aside. Perhaps it is the lack of a proper plan of study or just the super easy and friendly interface of TS.
Now to the concise request: is there still a way to get TS v. 4.3 that works in windows 10?
That would be awesome, have a great day.

hey welcome. Things were pretty still regarding UI until 6.6. In 7.6 there is "modeler side" which is still the old legacy UI, but it has more features. 3.2 is very historical and very basic and so is 4.3. If you like tS, try to make your way up. Its still the same principles, still the same workspace.
PS: show us what you did with tS, do you have some pictures to share?

Use trueSpace 7 model side with bridge off and you have a similar ts 6.6 + hdri render.
No problem with windows 10.
If you have a 4k screen you need to use open gl. Direct X on model side can't work with this size.

Thanks bitkar and marcel for the quick reply.
I am not against progress or evolution or making thing better. However I am not totally into 3D in my everyday work so basic - intermediate tools are what I need to produce good looking results for clients.
For instance I have been working lately in some food related designs: tuna cans and coffe bags. I needed to generate realistic looking images. So I downloaded free 3d models, applied texture and easily rendered them with Keyshot. But at one point I could not find the models I was looking for. So I had to hire somebody to model them (in a basic way). I wanted to do that myself but I understand TS 3.2 is basic and limited somehow so I think version 4.3 has some other helpful tools.
I know I might sound like I am lazy for learning new stuff but it is not true. Two years ago I started learning code programming, it was hard but it paid off. I relied on good learning resources and that eases the learning curve.
Thanks both for your time.
BTW Marcel, I seriously love your artistic skills and your work with TS, unbelievable work.

I might give a try using 7.6 modeler side, but again..is there the proper instruction on how to use it? 3D is by nature complex to understand and learn. I downloaded some tutorials months ago but is hard to know what version it targets (those videos have no audio). I will share some experience: Several years ago I decided to switch to 3ds Max and even took a short course in an institute because I realised that to learn on my own would take longer. I got the hang of it and it was good. But there is no substitute for the ease of use of TS. I just keep coming to it, somehow those tutorials on version 3.2 were just so precise and basic at the same time that allowed me to understand easily. Teaching is the key word here I believe. I might have the latest and best 3D software but no proper training on how to use it makes it worthless. Of course it all depends on the needs and use.
I forgot to mention what I mostly use it for: Illustration (characters) and product design. Not animation or motion graphics involved. Just still images that I later incorporate in graphic design. I will search and share some images in my old laptop, that might take a few days though.
ts 6.6, ts 7, ts 7.6. It all sounds confusing. Please take no offense, but it seems hard to understand the differences in all this. It might take a lot of time and effort before I can produce good results in learning what I see as a "new" software. I know it is not "new" but seems like it, it is not the TS I came to learn and love with little effort, that good it is.

Not 7 sorry.
It is TS 7.6.

Re: nostalgic but also practical
tS7.6 has a good technical documentation (help files). Its easy to learn how features work from that.
According to versions of tS. ... 6.6 was the last version of the oldschool that you know from 3.2. It is still the same ease of use. It works the same as 3.2. You can learn it and use it the same way you did with 3.2
About tS7.6 - it has new aspect - the Workspace, but there is also the Modeler side, which is still the same as 6.6 basically.
If you know 3.2 and want to get better in it, you can do it with 7.6 modeler the same way. You will just have a bit more to learn and more possibilities.

Thanks for your patience.

Version 6.6 is still available? Or the only available is 7.6?

If 7.6 modelside is an option, you can check out some tutorials here: http://truespace3d.free.fr/index.php/tutorials/
I have some collected on my website as well: http://clintons3d.com/tutorials/caligari.html and http://clintons3d.com/tutorials/gs3dbuzz/gamespace.htm

It is of course an option, with the proper documentation and training it might just be what I need...on the other hand I must insist: downloading v. 4.3 or at least 6.6 is not an option anymore?

Nope, no downloads available for those versions except maybe from some illegal sources and like some have said 7.6 modelside is very similar to 6.6daviz84 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2020, 17:10Hi clintonmanclintonman wrote: ↑06 Jan 2020, 16:34 If 7.6 modelside is an option, you can check out some tutorials here: http://truespace3d.free.fr/index.php/tutorials/
