Banner for trueSpacePlugins.com

Post by Jack Edwards »

Started working on getting the plugin developer community site up and running and I came up with this cool idea of creating a banner image of an overloaded powerstrip with the plugged in power cables going off the right and left side of the image.

Should be a rather ironic image of what the site hopes to accomplish... lol

Anycase since it's going to take some 3D work, I thought I'd create a WIP thread for you guys to see it unfold. :)

BTW, apologies for the site looking like crap at the moment. Turns out Mambo won't work right on my server so going to have to find a different CMS... *sigh* Would've been nice if Mambo had worked since that integrates nicely with both the shopping cart software and the SMF forum software I'm using. Ah well....

Will post some wires later.

Do we want a little older powerstrip maybe?
I have one in my basement that's from a few years back and kinda overloaded that I could model off of.
If you see a zukazamme it's probably me.

@ DD, it's going to focus on 7.6 plugins and development. But I can definitely give you a link! :D

@ Robert, sure any reference photos would be great. :)

Gonna install Joomla real quick and see if that has the same problems... then I probably need to call it a day.... :bananasad:

Edit:
Woot! Joomla install worked great. No probs setting up add on modules this time. So looks like I can start making the site functional tomorrow. The forum is already set up, I just need to give it a matching template once I get the template for the main site designed. :ugeek:

I might decide to go live with the built-in templates though so that the community can get up and running making and selling plugins now while the interest is still high. :bananatyping:

Catch you guys in the morning! :bananacheers:

Right here we go, two reference pictures.

And yes, that is in fact what it looks like behind the audio system box, I didn't change anything before taking the pictures.

Ah yes, nothing like a modern 7 channel receiver. Now that I think about it, that's probably how it looks behind ours as well.

Good news about the site. I finally got the friggin' shopping cart software to work (and with SEF enabled  ), going to add Community Builder tomorrow and see if that blows up the site. Then I need to decide if I want to stay with SMF for the forum or use Fireboard which integrates directly into Community Builder. SMF has a lot more features like paypal subscriptions which I've already set up... Of course once I get it all set up I've been thinking about migrating it to another account to consolidate and save on hosting costs... I'm sure that'll be fun... lol. :?

So it'll probably be a another day before I can model this out.

LOL! Nah the difference is that unlike Scotty in Star Trek, I need to learn multiply my time estimates by 4 to get them to be realistic instead of to appear to be a "miracle worker"... lol

BTW, not usually a Coffee guy, used to be addicted to Caffeine so bad that I'd get shakes and withdraw symptoms if I didn't have soda or tea. Got bad enough that I started getting headaches too, so went cold turkey about 10 years back and don't do soda anymore. Took about 2 weeks to get over the withdraw symptoms but after that it was amazing to realize just how nasty soda products really taste. To give an idea of how bad my Caffeine addition was, I was going through multiple 48 pack soda cases every few days back in college... Guess that's better than the kind of drugs most college students do lol...

Say anyone got a Jolt Cola around...? :P
