Any suggestions?
Add some status line code to your Autokey script?

A status line isn't good enough for something that can happen by accident, it would have to be a popup. It looks like it already has a status line and I didn't see it when it happened to me.
My suggestion is make the button smaller so it doesn't share space with the checkbox.

As said, this happens in both versions.
In the full version selecting the Postprocess title bar does it too!
Same thing can happen with the Bake Keyframes button too.
So it does not matter where I put the buttons on the panel, it could still happen.
Does not seem to affect regular buttons, just the On/Off buttons.

BTW... this also happens with the one on your website.

I am thinking that the Automatic Keyframing should be a Popup floating panel.

So it would be a button on the setting panel that opens a floating panel and the floating panel has an on/off button on it?

Ah, I see it now. It depends on where on the checkbox you press, I must have been pressing more towards the lower right so it wasn't happening for me.

"Does not seem to affect regular buttons, just the On/Off buttons." - seems that way to me too.

Yes, and I can make the Floating panel snap to the AE's title bar.

I think I found a hack to sort of simulate button highlighting. It changes the GrayPercent value which seems to multiply the foreground color, so 100 is full color and 0 is black. It works by using an OwnerName node with a script object to make the button "aware" of itself so it can tell the script it calls to make change to the button.
I made the button by copying the record button so that needs to have a new image.
The AutoKey and AutoKeyHighlight can probably combined into one script.

The biggest disadvantages is that the button can't be moved or copied out of the toolbar and if the "auto" value on the AutoKey script was set manually the button would not automatically update it's state.

EDIT:
Nope, it's a bust. The changes don't survive reloading from the Toolbars.RsObj, the connections are lost, so it won't work.

I have tried updating the AE aspect toolbar and found problems in doing so.
Not sure but think tS is internally creating/recreating that toolbar.
It maybe also problematic with the layouts.
Bottom line is, when I tried to update that toolbar it would not stick.

Yep, just discovered the problem. Oh well, maybe the technique will be useful in the future.

Could be very useful.
I also like how tS highlights the buttons Active/Inactive state, similar to the X, Y, & Z locks.
It requires a certain GUID in the button's AgentID and TagAlias path

So are you okay with what I am purposing in the previous post?
