TExture paint help

Hi all,

I am trying to do multiple texture painting and its working yes, but Im having trouble with consistency as in the 'rock' texture I have loaded onto sphere atm in Material editor as per attached image, doesn't show up with I try to vertice paint ?

I also tried face paint, and I did get the rock tex. to paint on faces, and switching back to vert paint, no luck.

Ty for anyone reading this and trying to help, so I needed to make sure and edit this,
to let everyone know,, a bit of manual reading was clearly KEY (ugh) to my happy discovery
that I can indeed do what I need to do.

Spacekdet was helpful as well, making note (irc: come join us sometime ! ..) that I
should try doing uvmap to get this all working, so I did some manual reading and go it all sorted
out, and now tex.painting is working great.
