Seems MS and Caligari accepted to keep the CaliForum for another 5 months..
That should give us enough time to backup and save our work..
Thanks.

Re: 5 Months to backup CaliForum
Well, maybe not. You have to allow for the possibility that it will crash sometime over that period - particularly with high use and lots of people downloading. Not sure who will be around to restart it if it does crash.
Re: 5 Months to backup CaliForum
Very impressive how this is coming together. Are we going to basically backup what we can on the forums at Caligari? How do we support forums here? It is donation based?
Re: 5 Months to backup CaliForum
what wrong with just one guy do the backup and the whole community can benefit??
Have you asked them nicely for direct mirror of the hard disk at the physical location? Too much of great information from community would be lost!

Re: 5 Months to backup CaliForum
Greetings,
The way I archive web content is to create a pdf of it. You'll need Adobe Acrobat Pro or a 3rd-party pdf creator for this and I don't recommend it if there is video content. But for text and images, it does a very good job of preserving not only the content of a forum thread, but also the look.
Plus, you can append content to a pdf document. This enables you to collect a multi-page thread into a single document.

Re: 5 Months to backup CaliForum
If anyone is feeling extra-ambitious, don't forget that there is the whole 'original' forum that could also be archived.
It's linked on the current Caligari forum under the 'CaliArchive' link: http://forums.caligari.com/discus/messa ... opics.html

Re: 5 Months to backup CaliForum
I think we should preserve as there are invaluable knowledge that has been discussed in these forum.
The truespace forum community leader should just transfer all the forums to a single desinated forum or put the information on the code depositry like sourceforge or google so we could all access to.

Re: 5 Months to backup CaliForum
Just a stupid question - is it allowed to present anything on my private website. I.e. the SDK and files for it or TS himself?
I still use TrueSpace 6.6

Re: 5 Months to backup CaliForum
From my understanding, non product by caligari/microsoft can be distributed without direct permission. Call it, Truespace, SDK, Vray for Truespace or TrueServe.
In other hand you are free to distribute Trueplay and/or any plugin or object made by you..
Sad that anyone from Caligari-Microsoft had the influence or the good will at least to leave Truespace as a Open source software..
