My TruespaceKey config on Blender

Post by Prodigy »

Hi guys, well i'm gonna start this thread about my transition from truespace to Blender.

Still using Truespace for small scenes and for modeling because still not getting familiar with all blender tools and workflow but i think my input settings are quite close to truespace workflow.

1) Download the lastest Blender 2.79 Or if you like the Icons Blender for Artists is a great option too and works perfect..

2) Download this Key configuration and decompress in any folder you like.
TruespaceKeys v04.zip
(9.54 KiB) Downloaded 271 times
Run Blender.

Open the Menu File//User Preferences// In the INPUT Tab.

3) Change at your left hand (Select With) to LEFT
4) Now, Import Key Configuration and load the TruespaceKeys v04.py
5) Click on Save User Settings

That's all!
This will add a new key configuration if you like you can go back and select the Blender default key map..

This mimic most of the mouse movements from truespace.

In my workflow i use:

1>Perspective/Ortho view *change between clicks
2>Left View
3>Front View
4>Top View
5>Right View
6>Bottom View
7>Back View
0>Camera View

Z) Move
X) Rotate
C) Scale

+) + Sub Division Lvl
-) - Sub Division Lvl
/) Clear all Sub Divisions

F1)Wireframe
F2)CubeWireframe
F3)SolidMode
F4)MaterialMode
F5)Cycles RealTime Mode

F12) Render

Since Blender use the numbers to select Layers i changed that to (Shift+Number)

And another good thing from Truespace now in blender + a good blender feature is
Shift+Middle Mouse to Look arround like truespace, and if you use the W,A,S,D keys, you can move through the scene like in a game.. Q will move UP and E Down..

Give it a Try.. ;)

A video showing a large scene i'm working on.. before this key settings i would not even know how to navigate on the scene... I'm very very happy with blender because it feels like i'm working in Truespace..

Btw, I have also a Truespace color Scheme.. will share if someone wants..

Genius. Shift+Middleclick! Do the walkthrough camera! I never thought of that. Simply brilliant.

I think I will pitch this to the BFA to be part of the experimental map.
