SMC #65: Container

SMC #65: Container

SMC #65: Container.

The subject of this weeks' SMC is to model a container; the challenge being to be both imaginative in your design choice and wise in using your allotted time to pack in some nice detailing. I'm not really going to be restrictive in the types of container that are allowed, other than saying Not A Bag. Okay, so both objects are used to carry/store items, but to me, a container suggests more of a purpose built object and thus perhaps better designed for the task; something with a bit more strength than a bag. Below is an image to help kick-start your thinking process but by all means feel free to expand far beyond the limited choices I have shown. Your container could be designed to carry something completely worthless, or indeed something quite priceless. Something big, something small, something dangerous or perhaps even something secret. Who knows, something futuristic perhaps or maybe something ancient. The choice is pretty endless when you really start to think about it.

Steamer Trunk

Was going to go all steam punk with it, but didn't want to make the speed challenge a career. heh
Used MOI to model as time was expiring for the trial use. :(

Model time: MOI (have no idea, was scratching my head a lot)
Texture time: 2 hours Carrara 8 pro, photoshop and 3DCoat (for normal maps)
Render time: 12 minutes Carrara 8 Pro
Wireframe shows old version, made some modifications in Carrara and left out some stuff.
