Hi everyone!
Where do I start. I have been away from 3D, acting, and pretty much all 'fun stuff' for far too long.
Here's the story.
We bought a house in 2014; it was a roof over our heads, but not much more than that.
We spent the last couple years fixing the place up; the tasking consumed my free time almost entirely. We fixed/replaced everything but the four outer walls pretty much. We put in sod where there was red lava rock in the front yard. Ugly as hell.
My wife's mom passed away April 26. We found out April 20 she had lung cancer. Six days later, she was gone.
That put the brakes on everything - full stop.
Then we decided to sell the house, so we spent the last 3 months or so with preparations, moving out 90% of our stuff, cleaned, painted the whole place, staged it, then did open houses for one weekend. We got one offer and took it. The buyers seem really happy with it so that's a good thing; maybe this is a good match between home and buyer. Fortunately the buyers needed 2 months before moving in, so we got that time in rent-back - the buyers paid extra, and at closing, the funds were deducted from our proceeds as 2 months worth of rent. That gave us time to look for another house.
So we are rounding the corner, and have no obligations with the house we sold - no mortgage, no fixing, etc. Just keeping the lawn mowed basically. And we are getting back into acting, voice over, 3d, music, etc. FINALLY.
My wife has booked a film gig, and is the host/emcee for a large international film festival in Boulder in September over the Labor Day weekend so Heck Yeah! The new home is much more appealing to us, with an abundance of positive creative energy. Turns out the sellers are filmmakers, so I think that's why the house 'clicked' with us.
I will post photos and a link to the real estate site for the new house soon. I cannot wait to get back into our normal life routine.
Where have I been, where do I begin?
Re: Where have I been, where do I begin?
let's see if I can do this.
This is the front of the old house before I ripped out the front hedge by hand. This was like a fort around the house to hide how unappealing it truly was, for the area.

After I ripped out the front hedge, I took some photos. I call this 'body count'.
Later I removed the side hedges with an engine puller. Much easier.

All the red and white rock had to be dug up. Originally the landscaper tried to use the Bagster bags, but they only hold about 3500 pounds. I could tell by looking that the rock in them was more like 10,000 pounds. So we had to get a dumpster instead.

This is after the new sod was laid down, and a new sprinkler system was installed front and back yards. Works really well and looks great now. The centerpiece - I bought the flowers at 90% off or something since the season was pretty much over. They are doing well now. I had to dig up about 4 inches of white rock from the centerpiece where the flowers are now. Fun.

The downstairs bath looked like this before, while I was doing demolition.

I don't have photos of the old kitchen here for some reason, but here is what the kitchen looks like now, so so much better.
