First, is it a real item or a CG image? Many details and imperfections show that it is real. This is a photo of a real item.

How big is it? The size of the wood grain and the DOF show that it is small. This is a close up photo of a small item.

What is it made of? How was it made? There is a rough seam on the inside radius and a lighter color ring around the outside. I think that is where the parts of a mold went together. The outer lighter ring is probably where a rough one was smoothed after casting or worn from use. The texture is not compressed or wrinkled on the inside so I think it was not made by wrapping a tube or sheet of material. It is probably solid. Likely the material was injected into the mold or expanded there into a solid form. So, I think it is solid foam, rubber, or soft plastic.

Wear marks. Other than a small scratch or two there is no physical damage so it is new or is not subjected to friction or movement. There are brown stains or streaks. There is a a lighter area that looks like it is from heat or chemical action. It is round without flattened or dented parts.

It could be a chew toy for a pet or baby but it is small for that. Something for a toy or game? A washer for screws or a pressure seal for air or water hose connections?

good thought process...

you nailed most of it. It can be used as a toy for pets, i guess (many things can). But its not the main purpose, I hope. Or at least i have never had it for that purpose and it has not been bought for that. And its strangly enough pretty old by now. About 18yo. Iam pretty surprised how well it lasted in the drawer :) It still works the intended purpose. And you dont put it into anything for it to work. If you want to use it, you dont need anything else.
Too big (too round profile) for a seal, i think.

I can say that the diameter is about 9.5 cm (3.74 inches), hand palm sized.

Is it some kind of hand-workout ring, or a massage-related object? As in, do you squeeze it?

YES! its a hand workout thing made of a rubber (still rubbery after those years) to strenghten your grip (for rock climbing or other)! You definatly squeeze it to use it :)

You are the winner. Congratz!

trueBlue: its the oposite :D

"Babes with fishing lures." Until I looked at the large photo it looked like a lure. So she's got a shark with tentacles. I'm going to guess it is a sequel to Sharknado. Further research ...
