MicMac Photogrammetry GUI

Post by clintonman »

MicMacGUI.jpg
3D model created from images

A long time project I've been working on. I wrote a front end for the MicMac photogrammetry software. Normal usage is to type commands in a terminal or run custom scripts. My goal was to create a GUI for it and practice using ReactJS, ElectronJS and ThreeJS Javascript libraries. React is for the controls, Electron makes it into an executable program and Threejs is for the 3D display.

MicMac isn't any better or worse than other options. It is slower (I think) and it was made by and for professional and academic users, so it expects high quality images and doesn't work as well with poor quality photographs. It does have ground control points input which other free open source solutions lack.

Update v1.1.0

Added support for video files.
This uses a software package called FFmpeg to convert a video file to a sequence of jpg images. This doesn't give the level of quality you get from taking individual pictures, but it's fast and a neat feature to have.
