Library Thumbnail Model Orientation

Top object facing in negative Y
Bottom object facing in positive Y

An object needs to be facing in the positive Y direction to get good lighting for the library thumbnail image. It looks like the default thumbnail generation has it's own internal lighting. Scene lighting is ignored.

I think it depends on the active window's view
You may also note two objects in the preobjects folder
The LightsScene.RsObj is used to render light setups
There is also a LightsSceneCamera.RsObj
