trueSpace Live Link test

Post by clintonman »

My first Unreal Engine 4 Live Link test. It's based on a kind of "Hello World" demo code that was released in August. Next part is figuring out how the rotations can be translated to something ue4 likes.

There is a delay between each frame on purpose so it should run faster in the future.

Test number 2 is a huge success. :bananamouse: Only issue is that trueSpace character is 180 degrees from the result in Unreal.

Things are going really well. I was able to crack the Maya Live Link plugin code and use it's concepts.
New additions and fixes:
character rotation is corrected
found a way to have interactive character posing
added camera with fov
added lights with color, intensity and angle for spotlights
added a generic transform for moving static meshes in the level, or controlling cameras and lights only changing their transforms

TODO:
test on a full scene to see if everything is correct, especially orientations
add some safety - it can crash unreal if bad data is sent over
some kind of user interface

Third test, got all the parts working together. The positions and orientations were all wrong before, but couldn't see it outside the context of a full scene.
Video shows simple object motion, character animation and interaction, light interaction (I forgot to show but it does color too), view synced to unreal camera

Awesome Clinton!
Is this something that you could do with other (multiple) Unreal users or just on your computer?
