Alister - 3D Platformer with puzzle elements

Alister is a 3d platformer with puzzle elements. You play a wizard that hunts for ingredients for a potion and bookpages to complete a book again to sends a demon back to hell. The game comes in two languages, german and english. It starts by default in english.

I work at this game since may 2011 already. Unbelievable how time consuming game development is. It is developed with the free version of Unity. As usual everything is self made. From music across sound FX, programming (Unity's Javascript), leveldedsign, graphics, animation, everything from the first idea up to the final game. It is a bit short. And it is of course no AAA title. But hey, i am a lone wolf. And it should nevertheless keep you busy for a few hours :)

The game is currently still in beta. But this is the third beta version already, and it is close to the gold version now. I cannot find any new bugs anymore while my testing cycles. So it`s time to share it a bit more. Enjoy :)

EDIT 10.3.2014 - The game is finished. The links for the beta versions are removed. You can find the final version here now: http://www.reinerstilesets.de/de/spiele/2014-alister/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Great game Tiles :worship:
I did have an instant crash on my old Laptop but its a combination of it being old and an SIS Mirage video card, which has issues with a lot of 3D games anyway.. so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it :)
the crash report was a Direct3D issue, missing files which will be down to drivers and nothing newer since 2009 for this video card

On the i7 3770k with a Quadro 600 it runs great, very smooth and no issues so far

A friend of mine has been doing her game for 5 years and its still no where near done, I have one I've been re doing since 2007!
I'll report back if I find anything ;)

Many thanks nigec :)

Yes, game development is really very time consuming. Sorry to hear your issues with the old pc. I fear i can't really do anything here.

That looks fantastic. I bookmarked the page for the future and I have time to try it out.

Tiles,
I was testing out your game and I am stuck! I ended up transporting myself to Snail Island where you are suppose to roundhouse kick the
flaming balls. I keep falling in the ditch and burning up. You evidently cannot teleport back so I used up 5 lives to end the game.
On the main level there is no indication how to open a door or if the door cannot be opened no message stating that.
On the "How To" screen the instructions would be better if they said "Walk using the arrow keys, the W A S D keys or the Joypad."

Thanks Steinie :)

Sorry for the late reply. I have overlooked that somebody replied here. I should have checked this thread to get a mail when somebody replies ... hmm, is this even possible with PHPBB? Now it's too late, i have released the game as gold before a few minutes. Purrfect timing :D

You can find it here now: http://www.reinerstilesets.de/spiele/2014-alister/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I will of course have a look at your quirks. It's never too late for a version 1.1 :)

You teleport back when you reach the end of the level. There's this particle effect in front of the cave. You can also abandon a level when you hit esc to pause the game. There you can choose to teleport back to cake valley. Note that you can not teleport back while you are dying ...

Or do you mean that there is a place where you cannot escape from anymore? When you are dying then you should respawn at the latest respawn point.
On the main level there is no indication how to open a door or if the door cannot be opened no message stating that.
You cannot open the doors at the houses when that is what you mean. They are not meant to be walkable. There's just the gate in front of the teleportergarden that is closed or opened. The text at the gate works as thought though. Hmmm.
On the "How To" screen the instructions would be better if they said "Walk using the arrow keys, the W A S D keys or the Joypad."
This one is marked for the next version then. Thanks a bunch :)

Just spent some of the afternoon playing this.... All i got to say is WOW!

I love the graphics and the sound. The music really sets the mood. It seems old school to me. Having the goats chase you was fun. I can't kick those damn mines. :evil: I'll have to recommend this to some friends...

Great job Tiles :bananathumb:

Your hard work has paid off.
