FPN Triggered Doors

Post by trueBlue »

Here is a modified FPN Triggered Doors created by 3dvisuals dude and scripted by Dele.
* This version has been approximately scaled down to match the Avatar's height.
* Scripting was changed to use the tS761 command: System.ThisOwner()
This enables the Trigger to be Encapsulated at deeper levels within an object.
* Changed the Timer Event activation to use Take Control first as this helps to run the Timer on User's PC verses on the Server in Shared Space.
* Changed the Materials to use Material Instancing - Object mode

This is GREAT! Thank you very much! :D

I am gradually learning some of these newer commands in the 7.6x rosetta since a lot of the stuff we all developed "back in the day" under 7.51 core code have been updated substantially and now fail in the new environment, but the newer Rosetta core code is far superior in a zillion ways!

I will pour over this scripting and the methodology now, thanks! one great thiing about trueSpace scripting is that I never look at a script element without seeing potentials for additional uses from the prototypes each represent... it is a consistently contageous environment for the birth of new ideas! :D

Yep... I love this! :D

And it did immediately give me a new idea, this modification you made.... that cool "Activate" button on the panel..... I think it would be cool to have a clickable 3d button inworld which activated doors like this... then you could hide a door opening in a wall or several walls, and when someone clicks an item in the scene suddenly the doors open which were previously not seen! :D

Scripting is so powerful, excuse the pun but it sure opens a lot of doors for us all! :D

I liked these so much I made a wall that has a cutout that perfectly fits them then I encapsulated them in 3D and added the "Activate" button to the Encapsulated panel!

The doors also open as avatars approach them from either side of the wall of course too.

Very nice work tB thanks!

by the way, when Dele scripted these door triggers ages ago that we are now modifying, he warned emphatically that no one should accidentally right-click the doors when in FPN mode or it destroys their script functionality. So to be on the safe side, everyone using these should always keep backups handy in case that occurs.

Now we just need a couple of those way cool torches that Noko has on each side of the doorway huh?

And maybe a wet dark stone wall texture with a good normal map!
