Project Central Axis

Post by dreamcatcher107 »

I have three composite objects to rotate but the central axis point needs to be moved and I can not seem to locate the means to do so. It is currently outside the object's middle and therefore everything revolves about the wrong center. Any assistance is, as always, appreciated.

Model:
Select Glued/ composite object Object.
Click 'Axes' tool icon. Axis becomes visible.
Click 'Move axes to center of object' Axis centers itself in group.
You can also use normal Object Move/Rotate/Scale tools on the axis while it's visible to tweak it's position.
To exit Axis edit mode, click the 'Axes' icon again. Axis becomes invisible.
Other axis tools also available in this toolbar:
Normalize Rotation-resets rotation of axis/object (depending on which is selected)
Normalize Location- resets location of axis/ object to World Center of 0,0,0. (depending on which is selected)
Normalize scale- resets scale of object.

Workspace:
Select encapsulated/composite Object.
Click 'Axis Tool' icon. Axis becomes visible.
Click /drag on various parts of Axis widget to move/rotate axis to center of group.
Manual method only here- no handy 'Move to center' icon in Workspace.
You could Normalize location of Object first, then make Axis visible, and then Normalize Location again to center the Axis at 0,0,0.
Other tools in toolbar work as described above.
